I think you're being massively unfair. He wasn't signed to be a focal point striker but more of a forward that supports an out-and-out striker, e.g. Stewart. Not his fault that the squad panned out the way it did in January.
He would have been a useful partner for Stewart. He’s no lone centre forward.

I think the OP is what they call a 'minority view'. He isn't a number 9 and IMO did very well - will he ever be a top player, possibly not, but we were not 'sentenced to watch a useless player' we've had hundreds upon hundreds worse.
