CC : Durham v Yorkshire

Having being persuaded to start the thread for this match after our win against Derbyshire then here we go for the long awaited fixture against our 'nearest and dearest'.

We sit proudly top of the table after 4 rounds of games 11 points clear of Sussex and Leics (no deduction for bowling rate I see) while Yorkshire are 6th on 29pts with 2 draws, a loss and a washout.

Excluding the Bob Willis Trophy in 2020 which Yorkshire won by 6 wickets this will be their first visit in a CC game since the fateful 2016 season and only Badger survives from the DCCC side of that day although Lees played for Yorkshire with the game finishing in a draw.

Looking forward to seeing how Ajaz Patel plays in our seemingly fated role as Durham spinner and let's hope we can continue with our momentum following our domination of Derbyshire. Expect YJB to score a ton and Lyth will be in confident mood after his 174 yesterday but the way we're playing this season we have nowt to fear.

No team news yet of course although I noticed Ben Coad didn't bowl in the 2nd innings for Yorkshire. The wicket seems to be edging further towards the river with every game although it still looks like the final seats haven't been installed in the mighty Trapdoor so don't be surprised if it's not open.

As for the weather - well its showers, sunny spells, cloud, rain etc in fact everything but snow.

Haway The Lads let's send them back south with their tails between their legs!

We've got to be confident for this one. Yorkshire seem to be struggling, granted Bairstow and Lyth are there, and Durham are looking a solid team in all areas. Potts seems to have found what ever he didn't have in the first game. Borthwick is doing grand and the seam bowling has 4 seamers in form and available.

Expecting a win (famous last words because Yorkshire may well refuse to roll over), touch wood.

The ECB won't help Yorkshire out this year, because it suits them for Yorks to have a terrible season. That way the ECB can whack them with a massive points deduction and pretend they're being harsh on them, without actually harming any promotion chances Yorks may have had

Wouldn’t surprise me at all if the ECB decide to fuck us over and want Potts rested.
Thinking back to the commentary on the Sussex game between Marty and Campbell about resting Potts, or was it a comment from Marty to the Sussex commentator on the lines of the ECB said Potts could play x no of games before the break and Durham could choose which one to rest him for, Durham chose Sussex. So if I understood right and unless nothing changes such as Potts being needed for Ireland then he should be playing.

The Members Lounge won't be available on Friday as it had been pre booked before the fixtures were released and so Members can use the Castle View Lounge instead.

They're using Pitch 13 and no mention of Trapdoor being opened yet so for those in the Don Robson it'll be best to take winter woollies and binoculars.

No Coughlin in the squad. De Leede, Patel and Stanley Mac come into the 13

Rarely post on here as I struggle to always keep up with county cricket, however I went to watch Yorkshire last week. Pretty abject performance all things told. They'll be resting a lot on Masood because Lyth looked a poor, poor captain.

I think they'll struggle to take 20 wickets again without Coad. Thompson bowls at least one boundary ball an over, Edwards isn't much cop and Dom Bess looked completely finished. Had to listen to relentless moaning from the members at the state of the club.
