Chase or Revolut

Revolut has been great for me. Fairly frequent traveller and it's saved me a fair bit. Kutaxabank (sp) is free to use in Spain.

I used Revolut for years, but changed to Starling a few years back. I'd recommend the latter.

I've also got a Caxton card as there's no limit on cash withdrawals. Handy for places like Germany that are still cash only in loads of places.

Had a few issues in Florida using revolut. Tried paying and says rejected even tho card was loaded. Happened about half a dozen times over the 2 weeks.

Only close accounts if someone has been a naughty boy or lass..

Not quite closing but I've heard reports of them suspending accounts for no reason as their fraud checks are a bit over the top & perfectly reasonable stuff gets flagged up. (BBC watchdog did a feature on them) Might have since sorted it out, as this was a few years back when they first came onto the market.

What's best for spending when abroad? We have always been cash takers, but want to take a card this year to use. Mind you where we are going (Greece) still like a bit of cash for "tax purposes"

What's everyone's experiences of the above, and yes we are getting old so it needs to be simple to use:lol:
Chase or Virgin, both free to use abroad, best pay in local currency, I use chase myself as you get a notification from the app as soon as you use it. Decent interest rate for a current account aswell 3.1% at the minute.
Be wary if withdrawing cash, since leaving the EU the local banks can charge for withdrawals.
Was only a couple of banks that didn't charge when I was in Spain, most were €5+. Imagine Greece will be similar.

Use Starling anyway on my phone for contactless and its fine.
Deutsch bank don't charge in Spain. The Spanish banks all had charges so swerved them last year in Malaga.

Yes. I didn’t set it up as my card was incompatible. Was screwed when it came to buying anything and had to reply on someone else in the travel party.
I was told that most payment methods won’t work but Wise does.

WeChat is their WhatsApp and you require a Chinese person to invite you with a QR code.
