Strauss to Resign

Reckon he’ll stand for the Tories at the next General Election, which explains a lot about the terrible mess he’s made of governing English cricket for the last few years…
If he has sense, I think Sky would take him back.

this has to be to do with the 16.4 being potentially binned and his cricket review ignored basically

wonder if Robert Key , who loves the 16.4 , maybe the next one jumping

Why would the bloke who undertook the top job after we have lost 1 in 17 tests to then appoint the McCullum and Stokes who have gone on to win 10 out of 12 tests with a amazing turnaround of fortunes and brilliant attacking even think about jumping??

Everything he has done since been in the job has been brilliant

So he’s been a resounding success. Not. Came up with half baked, ill thought out ideas and didn’t properly consult anybody with any knowledge of the issues. Would make an ideal politician.

Whatever peoples feelings about his review (which I get) he deserves tremendous respect imo for both his captaincy of the England, and most definitely the part he played along with Morgan totally transforming our one day side from a laughing stock to the best side in the world with a great brand of cricket that produced one of the most unforgettable games this country has ever seen in winning the World Cup.

Like anybody imo you need to look at full career and full picture and pretty sure when looking at it that way the guy deserves respect

Did you expect Strauss to resign today ?

Things have obviously happened and Key is a mouthpiece for the 16.4

That’s why , please don’t quote me, you are contrarian for the sake of it

I like the county game more than 99.8% of the population in that I have a membership. Even I (ok it’s an Ashes summer) will be spending several times more watching England this year. To a first approximation England is all that matters. It’s what earns the money that props up the county game nee bastard watches that’s for sure. There’s some right naive buggers on here at times.

Who provides the players for the England team?

Just making a fair point that someone as successful as Key would not even be thinking of resigning that’s not contrarian just common sense.

He has been extremely successful in his job since taking over that is obvious surely.

The test team has been performing out of this world due to the appts he made, all Key should be getting is praise and a bit more praise.

The very last thing any English cricket fan should want his him jumping like you suggested

As ever you select what you want

I clearly said this

DID YOU EXPRCT STRAUSS TO RESIGN TODAY?

What you say about Key can be applied to Strauss . You totally evade and ignore what is actually said

That was my point, not jumping on anything, suggesting anything whatsoever

Now PLEASE STOP QUOTING ME

IM NOT INTERESTED IN YOUR POINT SCORING STYLE OF POST OR VIEWS FOR THAT MATTER

COMPRENDE?

Who provides the players for the England team?

They come from the counties now. Almost exclusively since the UCCE programme has been downgraded. But also, ultimately, from the clubs and the schools.

But as to who provides them? The ECB. Because the ECB props up the catastrophically insolvent domestic structure. Most years not one county covers even its playing wage bill through operating turnover. Not that many cover half. Last year Surrey claimed to but only through an accounting fiddle it seemed to me. The counties make EFL clubs look a model of living in their means.

The counties are a massive money pit for English cricket and it’s about time some of their supporters got a bit more real about the problem. We’ll not save county cricket by denial there’s a problem but we might by confronting it.

The FTECB has never for one moment developed any player at Durham since they joined the circuit

It’s only a few years when the FTECB attempted to ruin Durham and led to mass exits

I’ll ask again

Are you advocating the six franchises model which will leave no cricket to be seen at huge swathes of the country ?
.

I’m off now

The counties don’t exist without the ECB hand outs. None of them. Not a one is commercially viable as a professional sports club on what they raise. The accounts are public. For all to see.

So everyone Durham has developed since getting their seat at the table is in the end down to the ECB. Not none. All of them. A Durham without the cash isn’t viable so it develops the square root of sod all.

You and I watch them. Hardly any other fucker does. That’s the problem. I’d rather not have six franchises sure. That’s why I want us to stop living in denial. “Just watch Durham in the Blast and get it on the telly” didn’t work in the past and won’t work in the future.
