If he has sense, I think Sky would take him back. You must be logged on to see external links
Reckon he’ll stand for the Tories at the next General Election, which explains a lot about the terrible mess he’s made of governing English cricket for the last few years…
Last decent ope ing pair were Cook and Strauss.Cracking player though.
wonder if Robert Key , who loves the 16.4 , maybe the next one jumping
this has to be to do with the 16.4 being potentially binned and his cricket review ignored basically
Did you expect Strauss to resign today ?Why would the bloke who undertook the top job after we have lost 1 in 17 tests to then appoint the McCullum and Stokes who have gone on to win 10 out of 12 tests with a amazing turnaround of fortunes and brilliant attacking even think about jumping??
Everything he has done since been in the job has been brilliant
Who provides the players for the England team?I like the county game more than 99.8% of the population in that I have a membership. Even I (ok it’s an Ashes summer) will be spending several times more watching England this year. To a first approximation England is all that matters. It’s what earns the money that props up the county game nee bastard watches that’s for sure. There’s some right naive buggers on here at times.
Did you expect Strauss to resign today ?
Things have obviously happened and Key is a mouthpiece for the 16.4
That’s why , please don’t quote me, you are contrarian for the sake of it
As ever you select what you wantJust making a fair point that someone as successful as Key would not even be thinking of resigning that’s not contrarian just common sense.
He has been extremely successful in his job since taking over that is obvious surely.
The test team has been performing out of this world due to the appts he made, all Key should be getting is praise and a bit more praise.
The very last thing any English cricket fan should want his him jumping like you suggested
Who provides the players for the England team?
The FTECB has never for one moment developed any player at Durham since they joined the circuitThey come from the counties now. Almost exclusively since the UCCE programme has been downgraded. But also, ultimately, from the clubs and the schools.
But as to who provides them? The ECB. Because the ECB props up the catastrophically insolvent domestic structure. Most years not one county covers even its wage bill through operating turnover. Not that many cover half. Last year Surrey claimed to but only through an accounting fiddle it seemed to me. The counties make EFL clubs look a model of living in their means.
The counties are a massive money pit for English cricket and it’s about time some of their supporters got a bit more real about the problem. We’ll not save county cricket by denial there’s a problem but we might by confronting it.
