The Safety of Fans in the North Stand

Explain how all of that stops a Huddersfield fan chucking something down into the lower tier?

it does not.

Can it ever in these circumstances.

I suspect that there are a lot of hoops to jump through re some sort of protective barrier with a number of organisations that will have to be consulted.

In a game where audiences are in attendance, it is presumed that the supporters will behave.

as ive said before, the people to blame are those that throw the objects. as in most cases the innocent parties will have to abide by the rules. Only way to truly stop the threat of items being thrown, is to ban all away supporters. (Items were regularly thrown from the south stand at our players, when away were in the southstand). any other way of stopping is not really 100% effective, unless you put up perspex screen but that will need a lot of permissions.

we dont know what the figures are for items being thrown. Is it every game, every second game or whatever. The response is down to the occurrences. There is no silver bullet

Yeah, they said the same about the Coventry fans then nowt happened.

This. If they have the culprit, his image should be released.
Reporting it on Look North - wonder if that’s why the club got a statement out this afternoon.

100%
Which was in July. It's now nearly May and it's happened most weeks since.

It’s an utter disgrace that the club couldn’t identify the arsehole that chucked the bottle. They should have released images

I’m not exactly sure why you think there would need to be extensive permissions to install a net that could catch most of the objects which have been hurled from the North Stand Upper?

It is not as if it is a practical egress from the upper tier to jump ?30/40ft to the seats below?

Assuming the net is fire proof/flame retardant it hardly makes the stand unsafe?

If the league cannot see that the slight compromise of view for away supporters is outweighed by home supporters in the lower tier not having flares, bottles, vapes, coins etc rain down on them at most matches then you would have to question their sanity.

Safety nets have been rapidly deployed at grounds very similar in size to ours across Europe eg De Kuip in Rotterdam.

The cost is a small fraction of the club’s turnover and considerably less than we pay most first team players on an annual basis

And if necessary it could be retracted for the handful on concerts at the SoL every year.

So I really am struggling to understand why on Earth the club have not just ordered one and got on with it.

They seem determined to make this as difficult as possible and in the meantime at every match there is the real risk of a very serious injury or worse.

Steve Neil has done extensive R&A on a net and deemed it necessary but the owners refused it.
