The Safety of Fans in the North Stand

TBH I reckon if we hadn't won it would have kicked off a lot more. It's human nature to want to take matters into your own hands at some point, it's just we all have different tolerance levels.
This. This won't be popular to say but the club have a duty of care to everyone in the stadium including the stewards. Fans are getting more and more angry /frustrated, understandably so. However the stewards in the north stand lower have no control over this issue but will be the ones getting the wrath of the fans. The club really need to show some leadership/responsibility over this and take action to protect fans paying a hell of a lot of money for their seat.

Why would I want to buy a bcb ticket, it wasnt my original seat in the sol, just because they moved me didn’t mean I wanted too.
I and my pals decided to love to the south as it was a designated section to make some noise.
Apologies if this upsets you

It doesn’t upset me at all, my point is the club dropped a bollock moving the away fans with no regard for NSU season ticket holders who sat there and moved the “home end” to the South Stand.

They will do it again if they see fit and there’s fuck all people can do about it as seen with the original moving of away fans.

As someone who sits in the North Stand and was moved from North Stand Upper, I can honestly say the original decision to move away fans was stupid. No one was informed and no ‘compensation’ was paid or sought. The club got it wrong then and continue to get it wrong now.
Mind as much I would like to see them moved, one thing that I can't dispute is that the overwhelming majority of us wanted them up there. The fans asked for it and Short funded the move.

May well have but after the bomb went over people were livid and spent most of the game turned towards the away fans giving them shit so it was always going to kick off.

I’m pretty much at the point of being happy to flatten a few people if owt more occurs now tbh. Fair game now.

Great post, this is exactly what happened to me and I chose the South Stand.
I have said it loads of times 'they ripped the heart out of the North Stand when they gave the back dozen or so rows the BCB'[/QUOTE]

From my point of view, I can certainly say that it's bullshit to suggest RAWA are happy with whatever platitudes the club put out.

The smoke bomb today sailed over my 9 year old's head and we were fortunate that he wasn't hit. I immediately messaged the other members of the RAWA board to say how serious it was, and how it illustrated that the current measures are nowhere near sufficient.

The club said they'd weighed everything up and said they were happy that this was a good enough solution. We've given them the benefit of the doubt. As expected, however, some stewards saying "empty your pockets please lads" hasn't been sufficient. The societal study into why pricks act like pricks also, unsurprisingly, hasn't materially changed away supports in football.

RAWA have immediately sent out a tweet to canvass opinion and it will 100% be brought up at the next meeting, and hopefully before. For me, a "we'll look into it" won't be enough either, they've taken months to look into it and what they came up with isn't sufficient. And that's before we talk about the lad from the FSA who has reported the club to the independent ombudsman because he thinks the approach is unfair, which might mean they have to change it anyway.

It's not good enough, and today has demonstrated once again that they haven't done enough

They've said they'll look into everything put at them, and we seem to be no further forward, if not worse off.

If you or others are going to these meetings then put pressure on them. Make it as uncomfortable as bloody possible for those making the decisions. Do not move on from the agenda item until promises and actions are taken. No more bullshit we'll look into it.

I knew walking out today there would be bother. There always is when tensions go up after the flares come down. Police at the exits? Nope. Just let it hapoen then have a bit of a jog to see what's happening.

Move them, or start protecting the fans that come every week and put preventative measures in place. I personally couldn't give a shit if it costs a fiver or a million. They'll soon shit themselves when a kid gets a head cut open from a coin being launched on them. The searching has achieved the sum of FA, last 2 games 2 flares, and whatever else before that. The measures in place do not work. Simple as that.

How much power do you think RAWA have. I'm sure the meetings were such a Hassle (from the clubs perspective) they would just stop meeting with them. Guys and girls give up their own time to try and make the match experience better. Its the owners at fault here

End of the day mate you sit there with your boy. When it comes to protecting our kids any of us would do what we had to do. I honestly think the premier concourse has been opened just to give those in the north stand a chance to move. It's a cheap no hassle option for the club.

They don't have a lot obviously, so while they have a chance to air our voice when the hierachy of the club are in attendance, make the most of it.

I don’t mind moving tbh. Sat most places in the ground now but don’t see why I should pay more to sit in what I think is the worst seats in the ground. Plus I sit with me dad as who has been there since it opened and won’t shift.

I used to sit in south but the overcrowding was daft and not with the hassle with the kids.

Much happen outside after the game?

Yeah that's a good idea. Let away fans repeatedly cause bother and reward them with better seats. Whilst finally killing off the home atmosphere.
