SOL dropped from Euro 2028 bid?

No surprise that they got it. Tbh they give it the biggun about the airport, city centre etc but they constantly get given everything. It's no wonder they benefit.

I think the RAWA and whoever else has the opportunity to needs to request that the owners make a clear restoration plan for the SOL. It’s more than clear to see that the stadium is looking rather tired and outdated and needs some serious upgrading. None more so than the concourses. Certainly won’t be a cheap job but I’m sure if they were wider and served quicker, spectators would be much more inclined to spend money down there. Cardiff’s away end was absolutely fantastic for this the other day

The public transport is shocking in Sunderland. There has been that many cuts to services and merging of routes it's become almost impossible to travel from one place to another at certain times of the day.
An hourly service on the 24, Sundered to Shields on a Saturday night is v poor

Whilst we seem to do better on concerts they definitely seem to get everything when it comes to big sporting events.

Off the top of my head I remember them getting Euro 96, 2012 Olympics, 2015 Rugby World Cup, the 2019 Heineken and Challenge Cups, 2022 Rugby League World Cup and now the 2028 Euros should the UK bid be successful. Could be more than that.

Absolute disgrace really when you think their stadium only has 4,000 more seats in it than ours. Surely it should be shared out more evenly. Hopefully our city can still pick up some much needed tourism revenue from it.

They get everything then laugh because our city is slightly behind

Even if they said the modernisation would be gradual thing (maybe stand by stand over x years), it would be seen positively

Sadly I can’t see us spending any money of the SOL anytime soon.

Yeah that’s exactly what I think they should do. It’s probably at the bottom of their list though like you mention there

They get the RL magic weekend every year these days. I have relatives who travel up from Yorkshire to go and they say it's the perfect location for it as there's 4 games on a day and punters can enter and exit whenever. They did it at Man City and Anfield and it was a shit experience apparently.

this boils down to pure corruption, has to be, there’s no way that shît hole up the road is better than the SOL, we’ve got metro links, taxis and busses as they have, that airport they claim is partly owned by our council anyway, imagine being a footy fan having to drive through Cowgate to get to their rusty pile of shite 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
That sawdee cash must be nice

East stand is dilapidated and the concourse is awful.

Gallowgate concourse is decent.

Main stand, lower is poor, very tight and awful facilities. Platinum club needs updating, boxes are good.

Level 7, concourse good, view god awful.

Leazes Stand - Shite concourse, especially lower tier.

Weighing it up, the Stadium of Light, as a stadium if far superior, it's not even close at the moment.

I believe, although can't confirm from experience, that the 'behind the scenes' areas are being upgraded already.

Level 7 behind goal is awful. Level 7 Milburn view is ok.

It’s so obvious ffs :lol::lol::lol:

God knows why so many mags join up and do the pretending to be Sunderland fans thing. A few sad mags signing up when they're doing well is sadly unavoidable, but you'd at least think they'd just be open about it. You couldn't pay me to join a mags forum and pretend to be one of them, no matter how see through my act was supposed to be
Rossstewartenthuiast being the latest in a long line of pretendy sunderland fans. It's sad as fuck
