SOL dropped from Euro 2028 bid?

Very disappointing to see the SOL hasn't been chosen considering it's a near 50k stadium with some of the best facilities around. It has put me off the Euros 2028 tbh.

Villa Park was chosen and only holds 42k and it's a dated stadium. Also that lopsided mess is also dated and there's a good reason concerts are chosen to be held at the SOL instead.

Yes, but clearly geography matters. There was always going to be only one stadium in Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool and the North East.

They chose them lot.

Villa Park is going to 50K in the next few years and all the surrounding area is getting a load of money spent on it

Villa Park is being expanded and will hold more than 50k by 2028.

it’s a bit gutting to miss out but gives our stadium a massive opportunity for concerts in that summer.

We need to take advantage of that and get some huge acts on. All those other stadiums will be unavailable.

Steps fans won't guzzle + scoff like the footy lads wad.Outside the ground the jukebox in the colliery tavern might not be to their taste either.

I can't say I'm surprised they've chosen St James over the SoL. If you look at it without blinkers on, Newcastle has better transport links and way more hotel rooms. For those reasons alone it's the right decision, as much as I'd have loved it to go to our ground.

😂😂😂

All down to transport I assume, maybe hotels but mostly getting here. Unfortunately newcastle has airport and train facilities we haven’t.

Quicker to get from there to Sunderland than it is from Heathrow to central London. Then you'd have to get onward travel from central London.
Question as I've never been to villa Park, is it a good ground or is it simply the best Midlands ground to chose from?

It's in a really grim area at the arse end of Birmingham.
