SOL dropped from Euro 2028 bid?

Makes sense to have st James park, location and stadium size is a benefit to the bid ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

Every stadium they've chosen is 50k+ so looks like we were never really in the running. Shame as it would have been a massive boost to the city but as usual we get overlooked for them up the road.

Personally I'm hoping to go to Sofi or ATT Stadiums. They look fantastic

Realistically it's best chance to get to a WC in next few years especially if Saudis get 2030 bid
The sofi stadium looks insane. I was planning to go there last year for an nfl game but with costs going through the roof decided I couldn't justify the costs. Hopefully one day.

They've still got five years so should still be OK I would have thought? I was reading that part of the ground will just be temporary stands which uefa don't like.

I read at the weekend we'd likely be a reserve. Not sure if that has been confirmed.
I read somewhere all stadiums to be used have to be built by 2024, could have been bull like. It cannot have any temporary seating and needs to have 30k permanent seats.

Read it wrongโ€ฆ

A decision on who will host the 2028 Euro finals is expected to be made by Uefa's executive committee in September, with work on all potential host stadiums to begin by at least the summer of 2024, four years before the tournament

The last I saw mate was that they didnโ€™t have funding for the project and everything had come to a standstill due to the political problems in NI.

At one stage their FA were even looking at options to improve Windsor Park (which tbf I think would be the better venue)

Although they have until 2028, I suspect they could be dropped as soon as next year if things havenโ€™t progressed.

The sinaloa cartel are ๐Ÿ™
Will cut out the need for any middle men! One of the host cities is in guadalajara which I'm sure is where there was that ridiculous violence where they were stripping people naked and pounding lifeless bodies. Sure that was all cartel members. Don't think you'd be getting too many cocky england fans there!

Their eyesore only holds an extra 3,000.

The SoL could do with a major tarting up mind.

Ah right. Well that ground is going to be a huge issue if that's the case. Guess the bid is backed up by having ready built stadiums which meet the criteria in reserve.

Yeah sounds that way mate.

Very disappointing to see the SOL hasn't been chosen considering it's a near 50k stadium with some of the best facilities around. It has put me off the Euros 2028 tbh.

Villa Park was chosen and only holds 42k and it's a dated stadium. Also that lopsided mess is also dated and there's a good reason concerts are chosen to be held at the SOL instead.
