The Safety of Fans in the North Stand

Exactly. It's only a matter of when, not if. If they have taken no action following glass bottles being thrown from that height in August and here we are in April with large and dangerous items still being thrown down then when will they? When said injuries occur, is the answer.

Turning it round to a rubber dog toy on the pitch in order to have a go at their own fans for fuck's sake.
The board must know. If those below them have any sense they’ll all be covering their arses by emailing the details upstream. Surely the board realise that this email torrent exists for more reasons than just telling them what’s been happening? I’ll bet the mag safety officer has got himself some independent legal advice to cover himself and as long as he reports the incidents and makes recommendations after every game he’s in the clear even if those above him don’t act on them.

Ultimately as owner KLD must carry the can.

It’s really sad and disappointing to read week after week examples of supporter safety put at risk (I sit row 28 of the north stand) so far enough back not to be at hit. Although I’m looking to move anyway.

The ticketing debacle and mess with the club shop/commercial side of things.

The support we get is remarkable all things considered and the something that the ownership and Davison appear to be taking for granted.

They have been lucky not to have a serious downturn in form / fortunes on the pitch because that’s masked a lot of the issues off it.

Awful to feel that all in all they don’t actually give a shit about supporters and making the match day experience safe and enjoyable for home supporters.

Exactly that, I was at Boro away this season and had to dodge a few missiles, seen someone on here saying glass bottles were thrown this season, they must serve different drinks up in the away end then
The stewards hand them out to them on the way in.

The argument is it’ll stop it, and it won’t, also what glass bottles are away fans taking in? Because if they’re getting served them that’s a concern

No idea mate but one was definitely thrown by Coventry fans and landed where a little girl usually sits - as confirmed by someone on here. It may not completely stop but the risk of serious injury would be massively reduced.

He's evidently brought it in. They also don't sell vapes, flares or smoke bombs in the away end

It was smuggled in apparently. I actually posted a picture of the aftermath on the Coventry thread back in July.

It was pure luck no one was seriously hurt or worse.

By the way, no one was arrested for it

The first thing is policing it better and using stewards better, but that’s the clubs decision is not to do it as they won’t pay for proper staffing levels and quality. Moving the away fans won’t solve the problem as much as people think, as mentioned I was at Boro this season and there were seats and bottles flying all over, few coins thrown at Huddersfield and the away end is side by side.

Not comparable but arsehole mouth Breathing scum will be at hand on every level. Our fans lobbed a lit smoke bomb into our own last Friday. Sadly common sense is dead

Wine about owt some people

True but, why not hugely lessen the risk of serious injury? That video shows a skinny Boro kid who can barely throw a coin 20 yards. If he's 100ft up, the velocity is God knows how many time multiplied.
I remember getting a coin stotted off my temple at Sheffield United, it came up like a cartoon lump straight away and everyone took the piss but imagine if it had landed straight on top of me noggin from that height?

Of course it would. It'll lessen the chances of someone being very seriously injured massively straight away. That's surely not even open to debate?

Very true. The difference is huge. f***ing people eh? Why not just stop being arseholes. Don’t believe I’ve ever felt the urge to throw anything at a match. We got peppered at Arsenal last season aswell not a nice way to be on

Couldn't agree more mate. If you want to have a punch-up with like-minded lads away from the ground then crack-on but doing that, indiscriminately when there are loads of bairns in attendance? The lowest of the low.

Very lucky, however think people are naive to think it’ll stop the full problem, I’ve been to many away games where things have flew over me from the side. That’s an issue though about nobody being arrested, if that was one of our fans they would have been no doubt.

It's about lowering the risk of harm considerably. Wankers will be wankers wherever they are housed but let's not let them seriously hurt someone's child

Totally unrelated but I’d convert that North upper into a 2 tiered executive area. Fully enclosed suites. I haven’t the money though.

I think the most sensible move for aways from a fan’s perspective was similar to what city Do. North west corner. Sell tier 1,tier 2 and if they can put a crowd together tier 3. I imagine the policing/stewarding would be huge though.

If they do come back lower bowl I’d definitively be looking at north stand not south.

of course it will not stop the problem, throwing things at matches has gone on for decades, i was once hit with a bag of peanuts at Roker park, it was like a javelin.
