Club are looking to extend the stadium

Now I am starting to put 2+2 together. So they won’t be moving away supporters for next season. They have opened up the concourse next season. They will be trialing safe standing 2024-25. We have been working with the council on sustainability all good for the image of Sunderland. This all signals to me an announcement any day soon that next season we will expanding the South Stand. Could be wrong though.

Although this is a daft post, I watched a programme on Spurs ground and how actually amazing it is.
It puts the grounds built in the 90s/00 to shame.
The technology is absolutely amazing.

Under Reid we had some very good attendances and the little extension was decent.
I can’t ever see us hitting a larger capacity. Surely east of money plus I can’t see the owners spending on infrastructure.

How much capacity does safe standing hold compared to seating? Maybe they're not actually making the ground any bigger but in trialling standing the capacity would increase slightly?

Love the way mags all mention pennywell when talking about Sunderland, have you seen some of the shit holes in Newcastle? I drove back through the worst place I’ve ever been when driving back from Denton burn, I was shocked as everyone says newcatle is beautiful 😂
 
We all know the corporate revenue at the SOL is way behind most premier clubs, and I suppose it’s hard to see how the club could bridge that gap with the current stadium layout, however by extending the east stand to mirror the west you could double the potential, even by extending the south stand to include a BCB type of facility, it’s maybe not the average joes bums on seats the club are aiming for but significantly improving the corporate side of things,
 
Would love to see the remaining two sides extended to 65000.
Can't see it ever happening or being needed .
Would need an owner like the scum and constant investment every year to keep the crowds coming.
 
planning permission was applied for and granted whilst SNQ was in charge. I was told that some very minor work had been done to comply with building regs that the work had commenced.

As it was so long ago, it may be that those plans are now defunct. Changes in technology are no so vast as are the circumstances around utilities, that perhaps redrawing the plans makes a lot more sense.

It really depends on what the owners long term vision is. I also suspect that now will not be the time for massive outlays on non football items but heyho I do not have the ability to mind read, so who knows
