Club are looking to extend the stadium

According to Magnus over the road.

Lets forget about empty seats etc. If Sunderland want to compete seriously we need to get the infrastructre ready for the next 10 years etc.

Good move in my opinion
The extension would be the South Stand and they can stick the away fans up there, which was always the plan. When the stadium was built.

Magnus is simply a speculator who gets most things wrong.

The club have to renew planning permission every ten years to extend the South stand or else it lapses. This they have done and they confirmed it in a supporters collective meeting.

I would think that most fans would welcome this but the club haven’t even yet set a date for the fabled walk around the stadium with fan groups to check faults and get it in better nick, so I think this may be jumping the gun.
This is also my understanding.

Planning permission has been renewed so that it is still available as an option.

This is also important because of potential redevelopments in the area. If we hadn’t requested renewal of the planning permission we could potentially have a problem in the future when we did want to extend.

I don’t believe this is anything more than keeping our options open.

What are them dummies up the road doing? Last I heard was some hairbrain plan to extend the gallowgate which involved relocating the metro and all kinds, costing absolutely stupid amounts just to add about 5,000 seats or something

I have always said if match tickets were more affordable e.g, German model, we would get thousands more each game. Same match day ticket revenue but greater revenue from inside stadium match day sales.

Need to improve the match day experience though.

Bigger spaces for drinks/ food, better food and drink. Toilet facilities moved away from the medieval times.

But do agree if we absolutely maxed match day exp. with slightly cheaper tickets we’d easy get 50,000

Sold out a million times over though but, so worth it. And the owner will have that in pocket cash.

Lets buy a centre forward first! The capacity we have is just fine. The only game the demand for more tickets would be higher than we can hold is Newcastle. Like people have said, lets the the place done up a bit nicer . Better teles, better internet etc and korean chicken on tap!

KLD has probably thought - it is going to cost me millions to get promoted and challenge them in the Prem. But I know what really riles them - attendances! For 20m I will get them all crying when the mags lose the Capacity Cup.

Why extend now, when we've sold it out about 3 times in the last 5 years....stadium looked fantastic for that Sheff Wed Playoff game mind

You can’t renew planning permission. They’ve done works to technically begin the development and can complete it whenever they like.

Do it I say, 7,000 more seats, lower the ticket prices so more fans will attend and the filth up the road can cry about not having the bigger stadium capacity anymore, only comeback they will have is we have an airport even though it is based next to Ponteland... say about 6 miles from scum central and Sunderland Council own as much as the mag council of it, along with other councils who have a share too. The meltdoon in the cartoon will be even funnier than our U18s beating them 2-7:lol:

So we are finally in a position to open a bit thats been closed for a few years and the next step is to whack a new bit on? How will the two lasses in the ticket office possibly cope with the additional demand?

I think we should build it. It would be class having stuff like the champs league final, and stuff like that at the stadium. Raise our profile. Also make it decent to look at. Put some sort of decorative cladding over the corrugated bits, make it a destination for people just to look at. I would never have thought we'd get best part of 40,0000 every game before the stadium got built.west ham getting 60,000 every game n'all. If kld has the deep pockets to build it, no complaints from me
Love this skylon. Absolutely brilliant lad. Imagine if it was us in the champions league final at your place (nou camp of the north).
Why would we get a champions league final all of a sudden?

Usually held in stadiums like Wembley, Bernabau and San Siro - capacities of around 75k plus.
He’s barmy pal. He’s getting a tad excited and tying himself in knots about it.
