Club are looking to extend the stadium

Would be the biggest waste of money I could possibly imagine.

When in the championship we have about 12k empty seats.
When in Premier league we generally have about 5k empty seats.

I would imagine our average gate since the SoL opened is about 38k?

So other than concerts for 10 events in the summer and a few games in a oneoff tournament that we not even win the bid for we sit there with 22k empty seats for 50 years in new stands all of which need maintenance that we cant afford now in a 49k stadium.

Genius this.
You reckon we'd only get 42k in the Prem?
We can draw them crowds now.

Need to spend money on the existing stadium first, the corporate areas are pretty much untouched since it was built, Monty"s, Quinn's, and even the boxes are all looking very tired. Plus the outside looks as tatty as hell at the minute.

SJP has hosted rugby league for past few seasons and always looks like part of ground shut off so it's clear we won't be extending it for rugby
I’m not saying they’re going to specifically extend for rugby, I’m saying the club are exploring other avenues - it is not just a football stadium anymore.

im not sure our catchment area for people interested in football is big enough to fill a 55 thousand seater stadium consistently..i would love to be proved wrong.Just look at out gates in the thirties when we could claim to be one of the greats and you will get the idea.
You don’t think we could add 10k on the stoke attendance if we were challenging for Europe constantly?

I think we should build it. It would be class having stuff like the champs league final, and stuff like that at the stadium. Raise our profile. Also make it decent to look at. Put some sort of decorative cladding over the corrugated bits, make it a destination for people just to look at. I would never have thought we'd get best part of 40,0000 every game before the stadium got built.west ham getting 60,000 every game n'all. If kld has the deep pockets to build it, no complaints from me
Givower man. The CL Final ffs. We lost out on the EL Final (Porto v Celtic)) as there wasn’t enough hotel bedrooms in the NE. The EL is a tiddlywinks tournament compared to the CL.

Build it and they will come. Ha'way.
That's why the stadium been full all these years

Our attendance ratio to our sucsess is remarkable don't get me wrong but the stadium being extended isn't going to do owt besides make us a bigger concert venue.
