Club are looking to extend the stadium

Heard a lot of if we won 2006 World Cup bid the whole stadium would be fully extended and paid for by FA. Is this true?

Heard they get a big grant if chosen for the euros. Might be something in it. Make tickets Β£20 and will get plenty more fans.

No they aren't. They are held all over the place
If we extended the capacity of the stadium, it’ll probably be to 60,000

Only two stadiums have been used under 60,000 seats since 2000 (Hampden Park 2002, Estadio do Dragao 2021).

The finals are usually held in stadiums that are modern (at the time) and capacity wise is often 70k+

Next 3 finals:

2022/2023: Gazprom Arena 68k (Russia - probs will change the way it’s going between Russia and Ukraine) - likely to a bigger one.

2023/2024: Allianz Arena 75k (Germany)

2024/2025: Wembley 90k (England)

We may get it for the Euros if we got the extension (probably get it without too), but we won’t get the champions league final man. I think every final of the champions league that’s held in England from now on will be at Wembley.

say what youse want, just posting what i've been told not forcing any of youse to believe it.

it's due to potentially getting the euros
and the music industry wanting A 60000+ stadium in the north east,

the don't believe ST james have the right acoustic, club hoping to cement them self as the north east hot bed for music

if we get the euros we also potentially get 20m+ to update stadium
Yeah we’ve never held any concerts due to the stadium being too small. If only someone had told Elton John, BeyoncΓ©, Ed Sheeran, Foo Fighters, the Chili Peppers, Springsteen…..

According to Magnus over the road.

Lets forget about empty seats etc. If Sunderland want to compete seriously we need to get the infrastructre ready for the next 10 years etc.

Good move in my opinion
I think the extra seats are more for the concerts make more money.

I’ve been told You talk absolute bollocks.

Of course, believe that if you want

This is nonsense at it's highest order but if we're going down the concert route then extending the South stand is a no go unless people are now expected to watch gigs looking at a curtain.

I'd personally rather not have the Euro's for 2 or 3 games than having it and having a stadium with 20k empty seats every game - it's bad enough as it is now and sorry for not being 'optimistic' up front. Build it and they come is nonsense aswell.

Let's focus on getting to the Premier League first...
