All the Sunderland Corruption idiots losing it over this bridge like. Still trotting out the f***ing line that it's only going to be used for the football. It's been pointed out to them countless times about the housing. But no it's a vanity bridge apparently. f***ing morons.

I did see somewhere, maybe have been the save our shipyard page, where it was referred to as the Pallion killer due to it stopping ships from passing under it.

The PKB - Pallion Killer Bridge

It sounds lake some american serial killer from the 80's

@Pete the Pirate has blocked me from the SGM page. What a tart 😄

I didn't realise that was you so it honestly wasn't personal. I will unblock as there is a desperate need for balance against the moaners, who's rampant negativity is really, really insufferable.

However, you have repeatedly dunked on SGM and it's very frustrating as there is a perspective that hard work is not being appreciated, and it's unpleasant when people jump on the very slightest disagreement or mistake with very scathing judgements and attacks.

In general it's a bad time, not because of you personally, but like I said of some very, very negative people and local attitudes.

I post the occasional positivity on the page mate, but it becomes off putting when these conspiracy theorists go round and round in circles with the same argument even when they’ve been corrected with the truth a million times.

For the record, with this argument that’s been going on, I like the the SGM page for the most part. Yeah, there’s a few things that go on that I don’t necessarily agree with but it’s nothing major. The page does a really good job at promoting Sunderland and does it better than the Sunderland Echo, that’s for sure. Keep up the hard work and help get Sunderland on the map 👍

Got me thinking about SunderlandNow - now called Sunderland is Now. That used to be a really big page for Sunderland, has over 100k likes. I’ve just checked it out and it’s now pretty much just a page that shares adverts for businesses. What’s gone on there?

I don't know how you can be arsed. Even the articles you put on that are positive about the city attract endless negative comments

Like I've said before, I'd love your page to become an unofficial guide/review/exposure page for the dozens of fantastic things that go on in our city that are ran by volunteers... It would really stump the negative twats as they'd have nowhere to go with thier comments ..

For instance, there was a 'go tri' event on this morning down the Riverside, organised by the local triathlon club, which was aimed at kids and beginners to do a run/bike race event , fully certified, marshalled, properly organised etc.. all ran by volunteers and coaches from sunderland for free... Why not do an article about that? With the organisers and the participants? It's pure positivity and entirely sunderland born

We all knew it was him who ran it yet denied it 😄.

What I said wasn't even negative about the city. I said, "You're so desperate to be taken seriously yet posting links from other pages and refusing to say Newcastle airport and calling it something else does nothing for your journalistic integrity and professionalism"

It's a mental page, absolutely no direction. Flicking down it now it goes -

Video of woman shoplifting in Washington
Article from Florida about teacher being sacked
Lost dog in pennywell
Article about hylton castle
Something about protests in Paris
Campaign to renam Newcastle airport with Sunderland in it
Picture of old pub
Article about a wagon driver from Sheffield
Lost dog in plains farm

I guess sometimes you are passionate about something to the point you will endure opposition to see it succeed.

But yes sometimes it feels like you're being attacked from all angles, which is natural because it's media.

You've got the moaners on one hand, the Karens on another (who can get super offended at anything), some folks on here who treat it with political suspicion and then a new constituency, the mags (they've dogpiled a few SAFC posts, and also ridicule things pro Sunderland city on the other page).

Regarding community and volunteer organisations, there's this but yes there's a lot, lot more to do.

No, it's because Stirk is complaining to SGM about it and wanted to put out an article defending himself.

Aye, he was like. Shame really cos Facebook is a huge tool to promote Sunderland. We need more of them.

You look at a page like Future Sunderland which is class, but because it doesn’t post controversial subjects, race bait, missing dogs etc it doesn’t have the same reach as the likes of SGM & SunderlandNow.

The thing is SGM's social media strategy works, and has enabled rapid growth wholesale and built a community around it.

This is despite Facebook's algorithm being rigged to limit the reach of pages deliberately, to force them to spend more on adverts.

Yes it has been in some instances, quantity over quality, but there will eventually come a time where that is no longer necessary.

Maybe so, but you lose some credibility in the process. What is the point in posting articles from outside of Sunderland, from France and America etc...that people will know about from the main news channels..? It's pointless and dilutes the page..

The page has enough followers now where it could be part of Sunderlands resurgence
