Kicked off SAFC land for protesting against digital

No. The correct solution is to move everyone over to a digital season ticket but to offer people a normal card. My dad doesn’t have a mobile phone therefore won’t be going unless he has a physical card. The PR release was very clear that there was no alternative however we now have confusion as people are saying you can get one.

Exactly

The continued employment of Steve Davison tells you everything you need to know on that score. The regular PR own goals from the club reflect dreadfully on him but doesn't seem to be held to any account whatsoever.
Off the pitch the club is a mess and they cant get the basics right like the ticket office, merchandise, shop, hospitality, the ground, lack of PR, communication. They shouldnt be testing the patience of fans with thing like this and I cant see one area where Davison has improved things or it hasnt got worse.

Was waiting for this and can’t believe it took 10 or more posts.

I what world is having a digital season ticket a bad thing?

I appreciate the guy is getting on a but luddites really frustrate me sometimes.

Club handled it wrong though. A better pr stunt would have been to reason with him and get him in and show him that a digital ticket wont harm him.
I'm still waiting for someone to come up with benefit of season tickets on phones.
Other than phone nerds thinking it's a good idea purely because they love phones, what are the actual advantages?
For most normal people it's just a hassle, with the added risk of missing matches due to failures/losses/breakage of devices. On top of this it makes it harder work if you have kids or totally inaccessible for older people. Added to that the issue of longer queues etc
It just seems madness.

Someone get a protest organised for before the next game.

Don’t think a protest is required, what is required is a choice of digital and card options.
If the club can’t see that then it will only hit them in the bank balance.

I think if you check through the original thread announcing this , those not happy about it are a tiny minority.
"For most normal people it's just a hassle"
is simply incorrect.

How many times have i said this...KLD and the hierachy have zero interest in the fans opinions or interests.
Going to the match isn’t an “interest”
Well, I mean it kind of is but it’s basically what the whole thing is about! It’s an essential really not a side issue

What's the crack then, was he standing outside the main entrance and a steward has gone over and told him to move along?

He was standing outside the Roker End cafe/shop when we signed the petition at approx 2;45...plenty folk signing and numerous favourable comments...Lads such as him and others of his calibre will be here long after this current "project" and it's "devotees" are long gone..

Indeed. Just wondering what actually happened not digging the fella out.

I do think it's a good opportunity to get the older generations more comfortable with technology.

But there should still be an option for a physical card. Seems utterly daft not to have it and to be honest I'd rather keep the card as a back up option in case my phone is dead/lost etc.

It sounds like there will be that option, unsurprisingly they've made a complete mess in announcing the change.

What's the benefit then?

Everybody is going to have to work out how to download the ticket, as well as these wallet things. It's added hassle.

What makes you think that?

It's been suggested by some of those at the meeting with the club earlier this week which makes it absolutely bizarre that it doesn't feature in the announcement.

As for the wallet, it's honestly an absolute doddle to download then the SC will probably download from an email straight to that app.

It's a piece of piss that to be fair, and once it's done it should be done.

It's like using Google Pay on your phone you don't realise how convenient it is until you use it.

For example I rarely leave my phone in the car, but I regularly leave my wallet. This way I wouldn't have to go back.

Exactly.

Going to the match is probably one of the few "analogue" activities older people have left. Allowances need ti be made.

Hmm, still don't like it :(

Should be making more of buying a season ticket. The Mags sent out their tickets in a pack with pin badges and leather card holders.
A £400 purchase deserves better than being hidden away as a download on a phone.

Listen, I work in a supermarket and a lot of old folk will not use self-scan tills, and will not use mobile phones to scan in shop.

Just the way it is. We don't call them Luddites and turn them away.
Hang on. You can use your mobile phone to scan your shopping!?

I have gave them the benefit of the doubt until recently but they are starting to worry me.

Not putting a net up where the away fans are is a disgrace and shows how much of a fuck they give.
Working with SO37 then telling them they can't put displays on at the last minute.
Forcing things on the fans like going cashless and digital season tickets. And if you need any help from the ticket office you can pay a tenner.
Leaving us without a single striker. I don't care how hard they 'tried' to get one, they simply had to and they didn't. I don't believe they care, so long as we stay in this league and they make money off the players we can sell they'll be happy.
Not opening the ticket office or club shop until there was a total backlash from the fans, and even then they barely have any stock. These are just the things I can think of off the top of my head.

I honestly think there would be hell on if the last owners were the ones doing this.
Absolutely bang on all of this.👏👏👏

I think it’s a good idea to move into the next century
Mebbes see about getting yourself chipped if you really want the next century.

The option to have a digital ticket should be there, so should a card.

By moving a lone protestor the club have merely highlighted the issue in a way he couldn't have hoped for. Alienating fans and making things more difficult for some among us is not the behaviour of a club that is listening or believes in genuine fan engagement.
