Investment in the stadium

I can’t comprehend the economics of building stadiums.

Sunderland £24m
Everton £500m
Spurs £1000m

This for stadiums that are used about one afternoon a fortnight, serve no other substantive purpose and have no resale value other than for knocking down and using the land for something else.

Completely crackers.
The Spurs choice will pay off, for the fact it isn't designed to be used once a fortnight. They have all sorts on in there.

NFL, Rugby, Boxing, Concerts, a Skywalk and a planned Go-Kart track underground.

How much would it realistically cost to extend the SOL all the way round? Or even just extending the south stand? Couldn’t be that much surely
At todays prices i would guess around the 100 million plus mark........it would take decades to pay for itself and i doubt we could fill it week after week unless we had several years of champions league football. Its never going to happen unless we get a sugar daddy owner and those hoping for a euro 28 boost will be in for a big disappointment as the skunk bias will steal our thunder.
The cost of the north stand extension must be on the web somewhere so i guess you could extrapolate from that over time but i think the new development around the sheepfolds especially the housing may make extending the ground more difficult permission wise ..........so to sum up i would say realistically with our present owners its a definite no chance!

The housing on sheepfold will have no bearing on the stadium.

I like your optimism! I don't agree with it but I like it! it must have some bearing on permissions as the impact of 63,500 people attending a venue must be taken into consideration even in the areas of transport links ,space around the stadium. parking, risks of damage and of course the classic nimbi complaints. Anyway its moot as its never going to happen!

Of course it'll have been taken into consideration. You don't plan stuff like that without covering all bases. The housing will have absolutely no bearing on a stadium extension

Not falling apart but could do with a bit TLC. The leaking gutters in the north stand. Roof leaks in the concourse.

How exactly will they have no bearing? Its never going to happen so I'm not sure how you know for certain it will have no bearing.

How do you know it will never happen? Things like this have stringent planning, and all possibilities will have been taken into account.

What utter nonsense you speak! The club have little influence of development around the ground outside the small footprint they own.It costs money to make the plans you of which you speak so no all possibilities will not have been taken into account of.Our owners are cheapskates' and it will never happen because of the cost and because of the demographics as we would not fill a 63500 stadium regularly. nonmatter how we'll we are doing.

What utter nonsense you speak. What if our ownership changes? That does happen you know. And I am sure a stadium extension on the south stand has already been granted planning permission at least once. The stadium footprint takes the land to the road behind the south stand, more than enough space for an extension. Have you seen the plans for the houses? There is no way houses will go right up to the stadium. Like I say, stuff like this will have been taken into account by the planners.

At least we don’t have this problem. Quite amazing this is a thing in a stadium that cost a billion

If we could we should downsize the stadium. 40k and fill it every week.

It’s falling into rack and ruin because we’re so far away from being a top half PL club.

There's nothing wrong with it, that is over dramatic, it needs money spent on it to bring it up to spec and to a higher standard but it's not falling into rack and ruin

Isn’t that the wrong way round? It’s a bit like the idiots who move near a church and complain when the bells ring.Any developments will have to take into account the SOL and its potential expansion.

Still looks good to me

It looks a little aged inside though and needs some maintenance doing. The changing room and bathing area in the home changing room for example.
