How would local cricketers feel about one of its most prominent umpires posting racist shite extolling the virtues of one Enoch Powell?
I find it distasteful after what has happened recently in Yorkshire but I suppose an old fellas politics are his own affair.

Seems to be posting regular stuff as my mate is screenshotting it over. Seems like a smashing fella and a decent umpire. He shouldn’t be standing though. Bet Cowgate don’t get many lbw decisions 😂

I think that’s the problem here. The old duffer hasn’t realised you can’t just spout off about the ‘darkies flooding over here’ on Twitter as though you were chatting to your mates in the Club.
Edit - one of the young NEPL umpires, who started when he was about 12 has just made it to the ECB panel. Double barrelled name, decent umpire.

I’m sure he’ll be hauled over the coals in the near future. Probably just get a slap on the wrist and told to stay off Twitter. The league is already short of umpires, if we weeded out the owld racists we’d be umpiring ourselves.
