Bowler run out

Bowler should have to give a warning, which the umpire then confirms. If the batsman can't keep his cock in his pants thereafter, so to speak, he's fair game to be mankaded.

A method of dismissal used by shithouses to ensure shithouses are aware that shithousery isn't acceptable.

Being OUT is a disproportionate sanction for stealing a yard IMO. The rules should encourage positive, attacking cricket (see also lbw 'outside the line' rule change in the 1970s). Should be 4 run penalty.
Agree with this. Ridiculous this can be out when the ball isn’t even live and in play. Run penalties would be an appropriate penalty and would sharp stop batters doing it.

I suppose there’d be batsmen taking the p#ss if the rule didn’t exist, there should be a warning first tho.

It's becoming a shambles now.

Just waiting for a game where the fielding side are playing for bad light with not many runs to win, and the bowler continually tries to run out the non-striker to waste time.

The batsman knows the rules, or should do. If they stay in their crease until the ball has left the bowler's hand they have nowt to worry about.

Give it a rest man. I wouldn't do it cos I think it's shit. You clearly would. It's like a shit interrogation on The Bill this 🤣
Fair enough I was just seeing how far you would let it go. I understand your point of view and respect it, but disagree. That’s what these discussions are all about. Have a good night.

In 25 years of playing local cricket I have never been involved in a game where even a warning was issued. International cricketers deciding they know better than everyone else, and it will creep into the leagues this year no doubt. Sad times.

I’ve seen plenty of warnings given over the years which solves the issue every time. No idea why it isn’t brought in as an official rule as it would sort all problems out imo.

I warned a young 'un once when I was umpiring an U18 game - just a quiet word and he stopped doing it immediately.

I also used to give bowlers a heads-up when they were pushing the no-ball line - more effective, I found.

I don't know if there's been any other recent examples but that's two now I've seen and both have been women's games.
Probably get some pelters here but could it be that with it being a relatively new sport they're simply not aware of the tradition or spirit of the game and they simply see it for what it is someone trying to gain an unfair advantage.

I like how everyone glosses over the fact that if someone was mankaded it was definitely at least the second time they tried to cheat in that game. Once when the bowler noticed it was happening, and once when they were ran out. The rule book is warning enough. If you play the game, you should know not to cheat. And if you still cheat, then no additional warning is needed before you get punched in the mouth

All this negativity around the bowler does is give the cheating shitcunts the confidence that they can flout the rules, secure in the knowledge that most bowlers will refrain from giving them what’s rightfully coming their way because of some bullshit one-sided morality code.
Or maybe we are all looking at it wrong.

Maybe we should have the attitude that baseball does, where stealing a base is just part and parcel of what you do. You try to gain an additional base, and you suffer the consequences if you are not successful. No stigma attached to either action. the point of the game is to score runs so do it by whatever means necessary, just understand the risks
