We are the best supported club in the Championship

Don't think anyone would deny they have a larger fanbase than us. However much of that is simply an accident of Geography. If we were located where they are and vice versa we'd have the larger fanbase. One thing I will say is that I'd have been interested to see how their gates would have held up if they'd had a few years like we've just had. Sadly that will never be put to the test with what's happened but I'm not so sure they'd be averaging high 30s like we are. Maybe they would but I'm not convinced.
Agree mate.

Leeds also averaged similar the two previous seasons
Surely anything over 30K in the second tier is amazing. Maybe only a few clubs in Germany could match that.

Four to be exact...

1
Hamburger SV
50.6279 57.000
2
1. FC Kaiserslautern
37.5089 46.895
3
Hannoverscher SV 96
31.3138 49.000
4
1. FC Nürnberg
30.4328 41.204

We are playing some of the best attacking football I've witnessed in my 45 plus years of support. We are a very good side to watch and everyone is busting a gut for the team. We are only 3 points off the play offs which is excellent given we only went up through the play offs.

We have some great, clever attacking footballers in Amad, Roberts, Clarke, Stewart and even Dan Neil. Their link up play is excellent. We have scored some amazing team goals. Also lots of exciting young talent on the bench. In Neil and Patterson we have 2 young north east lads in the team too.

Sure we need premier League football again but I for one am loving watching us this season after 4 fairly turgid seasons in league one.
And I know you are really positive and that’s brilliant but we are in the second division and for it to really ignite we need to be in the top league and competing there . How exciting or bloody brilliant we are is subjective but we have far better and not exciting teams in that 45 years

For a club that's just came up, the championship can be difficult, Sunderland from what i have seen have recruited very well, laid the foundations for the next couple of seasons, probably a couple of players short of really giving it a go this time around, but its a sensible way to run the club, plenty have over stretched themselves trying to make the PL and nearly gone bust, when you haave'nt got parachute payments you have to build up over a few seasons..and getting 40,000 in the championship is crazy.

We’re the biggest club in the league by far. A one club city and footballing hotbed. We turned up in our droves when struggling to get in the play offs of league one.

But I’d rather have the best team in the Championship 🙂

Agree with this. The football generally has been good to watch this season (moreso away from home) but it is subjective and turning on the style v Wigan, or Reading, Rotherham etc is never going to get people too carried away. In fact I've found the atmosphere this season to be rather flat for the mostpart. If we can get promoted and do the same against the top sides in the country you'd imagine things would really lift off.

Our crowds are good but not remarkable. Ipswich are averaging 26000 in the third tier. Those crowds are more consistent than when Bobby Robson was winning cups and almost winning the title for them. With regard to the general popularity of the game and level of the club within the game, our attendances in the period from 1961 to 1967 were remarkable.
You can’t compare crowds off ages ago. Football is totally different now. It’s never been so popular to the masses and families. It’s amazing to see. Effectively it’s a different environment and product.
