Sunderland vs boro 22 Jan 23

Not sure where you are going with this? Are you trying to points score or something. Yes the company that owned the club went bust and Gibson saved us. We then over the next 40 years played became an established PL club, won a cup and reached the UEFA cup final. Was great thanks.
Just asking a question backing up the history question or lack of it on your part. You must be able to grasp why us and the Mags see your lot as irrelevant or as a minor irritant at best?

Anyone outside the North East is unlikely to care about Newcastle, Sunderland or Middlesbrough full stop.

Same as people up here don't care about the Steel City derby, for example.

Yeah They don’t care, why should they.
But using your example, I’d probably put the Sheff clubs similar. Sheff wed dominated the 90s with likes of Waddle etc whereas United on top now.
They’ll probably see Sunderland and Boro the sane way.

I was walking through the car park and a load of your lot and ours were right up against the fence goading each other, and I could hear the chant "town full of paedos" (classy stuff).

I noticed some on both sides were punching and kicking the fence and some tried to climb over it, although it was all a bit embarrassing, as they clearly weren't going to be able to actually get at one another.

Bottles and coins were thrown by both sides and I honestly remember somebody on your side threw a seat over the fence. God knows how they managed to get it out of the stadium but it definitely happened.
So it's gone from SAFC fans chucking bottles and seats in the car park, to just a single seat thrown (allegedly) and Boro fans were just as bad by throwing coins and bottles.

Also your fans were chanting about Adam Johnson all the way through the game, so you've lost the moral high ground in regards to that.

Didn't ask if you're fuming or not.... Seems you can't answer a genuine question.

You're the one harping on about Rangers 🤷‍♂️
But correct all the same.....👍

oh you want me to respond to this? I mean Newcastle have challenged for league titles and played in the champions League. In the last 70 years Sunderland haven't. Not even close. So quite a bit of difference.

I always thought it was to do with the perceived size of Middlesbrough as a club to the size of club Sunderland fans see themselves as. A 'derby' with Boro is everything they don't want to be seen as. We are not a Leeds or a Newcastle. Heaven forbid anyone would look on Sunderland as a similar sized club as Boro....

Rangers have a derby with Celtic.
I expect neither of them gets as worked up for a game versus Partick Thistle .

Partick also have 1 league cup win to their name by the way, like Boro There again I think they may have won THE Scottish Cup as well.
So would you question a Celt or Ger as to why they don’t get too wound up against Partick Thistles ?
It is no disrespect to your club at all, it just doesn’t matter anywhere near as much due to history, neighbourhoods, council funding , title battles, the Civil War even.

Rangers question in relation to you being a 'new co' from 1986. New club and all that.

I'm not questioning anything.

When you consider the combined catchment area of Middlesbrough and Stockton, Boro aren’t a well-supported team and never have been.
the combined population of those two is around 370,000 people, much the same as Wearside. What we don't have is the huge populations of Gateshead, south Tyneside and county Durham. Even though you will protest good numbers from those area are red and white not black and white.
compared to yours we have a small population to draw from.

I haven't at any point tried to claim that Boro fans are angels. You said that Boro fans had gathered outside the away end to goad Sunderland fans. I'm not sure whether that's true or whether it was a case of Boro fans were walking through the car park and both sets of supporters were goading eachother, but there were plenty on both sides acting like tools.

I know for certain that at least one seat was thrown as it happened near to where I was stood. Can't remember whether there were more but one being ripped out is bad enough. And yeah it definitely happened but if you choose to believe it didn't that's fine, I won't lose any sleep over it.

You gave your thought , which required a response ? Unless you expect to not consider others thoughts Wev ?

I think Boro fans accept that NUFC v SAFC is the big derby. I imagine though that it’s the constant down playing of their game with you whilst trying to belittle them that both bemuses and amuses them.
It’s undoubtedly a big game, I just don’t get why most want to play it down or deny it.
You’re a lot of things Cyril, neutral is not one of them.

You’re based in the Teeside area, are games against Boro more meaningful to you, T ??
