We’ll sing what we want

I don’t agree that it is racist to boo taking the knee, matter of perception… I don’t agree that taking the knee is “anti-racist” for a kick off.

“We are oppressed so let us take the knee” how upside down can you be

You are calling people racist for booing the knee lol
They are

Jeez, you will go to any length to defend the racists. Why don't the racists sing the biggest dick thing about ross stewart then?
It's not as black and white (pardon the pun) as "people who boo the knee are *only* booing because they are racist". There's a cross section of those that boo the knee and also sing the Diallo song, those will be the racist ones.
There's also some that will do one or the other: because they agree that anti-racism - the knee - is a good stand to take, but don't see the harm in the big dick song.
On the flip side, there's people that will boo the knee (because they believe it to be more a political organisation rather than anti racism), but will rightly recognise the racial stereotypes in the Amad song so won't sing it.

It's probably about clarity and getting those in the latter 2 scenarios to understand that 1) the knee doesn't represent a political organisation, it is a gesture of anti-racism. 2) The song isn't acceptable as it is based on racial stereotypes, that even the player himself has said is uncomfortable.

In addition to the last paragraph, immediately labelling anyone that does either of the latter two as racist is counter productive. The first group that do both are likely racist, however and probably wouldn't listen to any attempt at clarity or education

I suggested the club come up with its own anti-racism programme at the last collective and hope to speak to them further regarding the issue.

People boo the knee because it’s linked to BLM and everything that happened around the time of George Floyd’s death. It doesn’t excuse it, but it’s a fact.

I don't accept this and think its just an easy get out. When the players who are taking the knee confirm repeatedly they are doing it as an anti racism gesture then only an idiot would not accept its an anti racism gesture.

I gaurantee if SAFC came out and said our players will stand on one leg as a stand against racism, then the same people who boo taking the knee would boo that as well. You know it and I know it because the people who are booing are racists.

Additionally why do people object to BLM anyway? Do black lives not matter?

I am sick of it mate. I love sunerland, and it's fans, but I am sick of people defending the booing, and the diallo chant. Twisting everything to defend it as 'not racist'. It is racist, and should be treat with disdain.Pussyfooting about with these idiots, is making the club look worse. The more people who defend them, the more they will do it

You know full well that BLM is more than just an anti-racism campaign. One of their policies is to defund the police.

Hopefully we’ll have a club led anti-racism campaign soon enough and that’ll be put to the test.

But the knee gesture at games is not blm. This is what he is saying. Its been said millions of times by players, the f.a etc. Aaaah, so they are booing to protect the police force now, are they? How many excuses for the racists man. Makes you wonder

Black Lives Matter is a truism…the BLM organisation are a bunch of arsehats.

We have been through this a million times and have as yet to hear one sensible reason for booing the knee that is not down to racism.

You made a long post there but completely omitted the good reasons for booing that aren't to do with racism.

Please could you tell me why people would boo the knee if they are not being racist, thank you.

Defunding the police is a good idea but the label is misleading. Anyone who values police doing police work would support defunding.

I give up sometimes. The players taking the knee say its an anti racism gesture. How many more times man?

The reality is that you 'know full well' that this is just an excuse for the racists to boo it.

It's to protect the police force man, with all that defunding and that!

Read the studies on it and the reasons for it. It is about police not being expected to do social work which they are not trained for and results in people with mental illness being criminalised.

Okay, fair point. Btw I'm not defending the booing of the knee by any means. I think it's moronic.

My post was merely saying that some people may be misguided or ignorant as to what it is (thanks to the media and press in this country and further afield), with connotations to certain political organisations and leanings.

If it was made unequivocally explained that it is not affiliated, or in support of any political body or leaning and is merely as a show of solidarity and anti racism, then there'd be no reason for anyone to boo, unless they are racist.

It’s pretty obvious, you blindly follow the gestures of a political movement you accept that you may be roped in with some of the unsavoury shite they do. Like the Roman salute or otherwise known as the nazi salute. Taking the knee has political connotations and forcing it to be universally recognised as x y or a is exactly what Hitler did, with the swastika too. Good job we have anti racist campaigners that are not in any way racist themselves.
