Italia:90

Watched a couple of documentaries recently regarding Italia:90 and how bad English football fans are, yet it keeps going back to heysel and banned from European football. Wasn’t that all Liverpool? Aren’t Liverpool scouse not English

Heysel was the straw that broke the camels back. English clubs supporters were involved in trouble for years. Liverpool are the reason we were banned but they don't like to mention it. Supporters need to self police to root out any silly youngsters who watch too much green street.

Heysel was 1985. There’s view number one.
And the beginning of this documentary states how bad English fans are and should not be going to Italia:90 because of the heysel events. English football fans were banned from European football because of this. All the England group games were in one area to keep them all together. So what point have you got about heysel in 1985?

Thank you, this is why I am asking as I only hear about heysel. That is the only thing documented regarding English fans banned. It doesn’t really talk about other clubs.

Would be a long programme. Plenty online I'm sure if you want to research.

England had a really bad problem with trouble at football matches around that time.

Liverpool were always in European finals (I think only one English team qualified for Europe then) so it seems like they were the problem but they were just part of it.

Are you really saying England fans shouldn't have been banned from Europe, because Liverpool isn't part of England?
No, I’m saying the beginning of the documentary starts saying English fans and they are actually Liverpool fans. And know when you see Liverpool fans they say they are scouse not English. I obviously know Liverpool is part of England people from Liverpool maybe not??

This is what I’m trying to understand, didn’t mean anything bad by it

One team for the European Cup but there was the UEFA and Cup winners cup competitions also

One in European Cup (unless defending champions, then it would be European champions and league winners - Foresr played Liverpool in 1st round of the European cup), but still got 3 in UEFA cup and 1 in Cup winners cup.

So because liverpool fans say they are not part of england, england fans shouldnt have been banned from europe. Is that really whats being said here?
No idea, just seen that part of your post and replied to that and that alone.

What’s so hard to understand?

a lad from graft went and i should have gone with him but didn't. i'd planned to go out for the final if we'd beaten those pesky germans.
he had some cracking yarns when he got back mind.

Liverpool fans (some of them) saying they aren’t part of England is a fairly recent thing..i can remember Robbie Fowler and Steve McManaman used to get a bit flak with people questioning their commitment to playing for England over Liverpool..the fans thing is fairly new to me like.
