We could see it extended in future if we give up and stay up. The city is increasing in size and if studio and arena developments come off we'll see a different Sunderland
The population of the city is shrinking though.

Has been. Should the plans go ahead we'll grow. Lots of money being built, jobs on offer and things to actually to. For value for money I think we're the best part of the county to live in.The population of the city is shrinking though.
Mag. ObviouslyIf we were to extend the stadium for the Euros, would we have to pay for it or would the governing body who organise the tournament fund it?
This.Another Mag OP I believe?

Lots of new builds lying empty then. We'll soon see.I admire your optimism but I can't see the population decline and the brain drain reversing anytime soon.
Much as he's playing well you'd hope we'd have someone younger and better in 15 years mind.
They would have to think about improving the metro and train access as well surely!
ahhhhh bistoIf we were to extend the stadium for the Euros, would we have to pay for it or would the governing body who organise the tournament fund it?
this, but we won't get Euro games anyway imhoThe SoL will not get extended even if it gets some Euro games
I’ve been to Hertha Berlin…just once but the atmosphere was superb. It was f***ing freezing mind.Have you ever been to Hertha Berlin. I imagine it's be like that whe we play there, completely soulless due to the amount of empty seats.
There aren’t that many new stadiums with a decent capacity tho, the majority are much older than ours. Unless I’m having a massive brain fart, there is only Man City in the North and I can’t think of any in the midlands. Our stadium is 25 years old (actually maybe 26) it’s not new anymore unfortunately. The new stadiums are far more advanced. It would have been used if we won the bid in 2006. On another note if we do extend the south stand I don’t think we should add an extra tier just extend back and make it like the massive stand at the Westfalenstadion
Old Trafford, Wembley, Emirates, Tottenham Stadium for certain. Then it depends on how ambitious clubs and councils want to be. Sunderland are the only other club that could relatively cheaply offer a 60k+ ground, and are in a good location - ie outside of NW and London. However, without some lateral thinking Liverpool, Newcastle, Villa, West Ham & Everton (new ground) all currently have better chances.England will only get 6 stadiums. We have no chance.
