Seems to be getting spicy, first he backed down yesterday claiming a public lynching 😂

Now his manager has come out with this

On the first point, I don't know the ins and Outs but does seem a bit rough that Warner has this ban while smith the actual captain at the time was reinstated relatively quickly based purely on results

On the second point that smells like bullshit tbh but if (huge if) it's true then wow. But it's not gonna be is it?

It’s never seemed plausible to me that the whole thing was planned by Smith and Warner (and Lehmann) only without any input or knowledge of it from the bowlers or that they got caught the first time they tried it

Totally agree although "unnamed officials" I was thinking meant umpires or such but aye more likely Australian upstairs bods

its not that huge like

they were ball tampering for years, everyone knows it. Everyone in the team would know.
He’s not known for being trustworthy but o did find it hard to believe only 3 people made a effort to cheat. That nobody else knew about.

Also Smith is captain again but his apology felt heartfelt where as Warners sounded like a kid caught doing something wrong and forced to apologise.

I dont believe that Warner was not the main one though

I have posted this millions of times, but Warner was the teams ball shiner for years, he his hand was full of plasters and strapping, South Africa finally complained the test before and then the very next test Bancroft became the ball shiner, and this happened. no coincidence.

It was going on for years, he even told Cook in the dressing room aftr the ashes that if you but certain substances on your hands you can affect the ball

It was pretty clear from the outset that the claims that no other Australian player/official knew about the ball tampering than Warner, Smith and Bancroft were a load of crap. No doubt one of them will release a book on it in a few years time once retired

Even from Warners point of view I can’t understand why being part of the leadership group is such a big deal. He’s 36 in the twilight of his career just enjoy your cricket.

it's the unfairness of it all surely...

It'll be the fact he feels nobody else is getting punished

The bowlers will have knew but doesnt mean they were behind it like, Warner n Smith were brain's trust like, and looked after the ball

The whole thing was simplified like to just sand paper as it looked so over the top, theyll have been tampering for years, but loads of teams will have to a slight degree on the lines of the laws.

The point was for me that they were such an awful badly behaved side on Smith and Lehman, totally out of control, this was just the final straw.

The narrative now is its just about sandpaper gate , it wasnt

I’m convinced Lyon was in on this carry on as well and Starc possibly.

as for Warner, he portrays a complete arse in any team he performs in. no idea of what he is like off pitch but I get the feeling he maybe no different
