We’ll sing what we want

Ah right, it’s taken him 2 months to find out the lyrics? He must live in an area with poor internet connection! Your story gets less plausible by the post!!
Why are we bothering to invent a backstory?

The songs pretty racist.
We have other lyrics for it already that sound better anyway.
The player the song is about has asked us not to sing it.

Why can't people just not sing it?

I can't believe the thread is still ticking over.

Erm, did you miss the Sessegnon bit? We've got people in the stands when its being sang not sure of the words and you think a foreign player is picking it up out in the middle of the pitch  (the best bit is you actually think he knowingly danced in front of thousands to a song about his nob, and still would if the club hadn't forced him to say stop )
I think a foreign player is capable of using the internet and social media to find out the words to a song being sung about him!!

Sessegnon was 10 years ago man, social media has moved on a tad in the last decade. Like I’ve been saying, it’s been all over social media for 2 months because of it‘s lyrics. Can you remember the Sessegnon song being all over social media? No thought not.
You've done nowt but dig and dig and dig a hole this whole thread. I'm staggered you're still going defending the song to be honest.
Like I said at the start…
Song - good
Lyrics cringeworthy - yes
Lyrics racist - no

Are you OK? You seem very determined to stick up for this song and its singers. The fellas in your avatar would be ashamed of you. If I remember rightly you are a knee booer defender n'all. Pattern emerging

The club and player seem to think otherwise.

Fine mate, cheers for the concern though. Not sticking up for anyone, merely expressing my opinion that the song isn’t racist. Never booed anyone taking the knee at all, didn’t agree with its origins and don’t like politics in football but certainly didn’t boo.

Are you say you think it's not racist or are you saying it isn't racist?

So we are back to you thinking (unbelievably) a player was knowingly dancing in front of thousands to a song about his penis. And wouldve continued to do so until the club stepped in. You're not very bright, clearly, so best leave it there.

Im less astounded now when you get a glimpse into how thick as shite some of our fans are.

It’s patently obvious the lad didn’t know what the words to the song are. Just look at how many posters on this thread speak English as a first language and didn’t know until it was spelled out for them.

a player who doesnt speak english as his native tongue might need a few months to learn enough of it to be able to understand vernacular and dialect like...

I'm in the South East corner and as I've said I didn't know what was being sung till I saw this thread.
We should stop singing it but I don't think it's racist.

There's definitely an argument for it being racist mind. Quite simply, if he was a white lad it wouldn't be sung. We all know that some people are singing about his cock because he's black, and there's a stereotype that black people have big dicks. A few years ago it was sung that nyron had a massive cock that he swung around his head. It wasn't sung about Jonny Evans.

I remember reading something about this when man united fans were asked to stop singing about Lukaku's cock. If I remember right, a main part of the argument is that if people are accepting of a "positive" stereotype about a group of people (black lads have huge cocks, they're athletic etc) then they likely also believe the negative stereotypes (they're less intelligent, they're violent etc). It's not something a player will necessarily be comfortable with hearing

It's pretty likely that a player would rather people sung about a quality he has as an individual, rather than just had a laugh about a racial stereotype regardless of whether we think that it's harmless, or meant to be supportive/ positive. Certainly now that the lad has publicly asked for it not to be sung, it shouldn't be. As others have said there are plenty of alternative lyrics that fit perfectly well. I'd also add that any song which could be perceived as racist should probably be avoided when it's primarily coming from the same place as (a minority of) people who boo taking the knee, it's not a good look
