Saudi Arabia wants its investors to own Manchester United and Liverpool

Therefore you can't argue with the lad who said it was mainly some daft young uns.
I sit at the other side of the ground and couldn't really hear it. Nobody anywhere near where I sit ever booed it.
You also can't claim that was the sole reason we stopped doing it with authority as we did not state it as being and one in three English clubs did it at the same time.

Sounded a lot more than a few at the time.

Agree to disagree on that and it seems coincidental on the latter point but obviously admittedly, I can’t prove that for definite.

Now if we can get back to the discussion at hand instead of deflecting by pulling up posts from yesterday afternoon 🙂

No deflection here mate, merely putting my point of view in.
I've forgotten what he point was but, in my opinion, if the Saudis want Liverpool and Man Utd, they'll find a way of getting it done.
What's to stop them setting-up another investment vehicle and "separating" it from being state-owned?

They want Saudi investors or consortiums to invest in Man Utd and Liverpool. But let's be honest it will be the Saudi government pulling the strings. The oil is running out but sport isn't. It's only a matter of time before they get an Olympics or a World Cup.

An absolute game changer if they get a world cup mind, can see widespread opposition and a level of protest never seen before

It's quite literally the league where the majority of the world's most talented players play football.

The morals and ethics of it are rancid, but the quality of the football is undeniable in my opinion

Really?
I've seen better quality, more entertaining football in the northern league. Passing a ball unchallenged around the defensive third and one or two quality moments in 90mins doesn't make for "quality football" in my opinion.

The wheels are in motion. Infantino and MBS were all pally last Sunday. They have Messi as an ambassador and Ronaldo looks like he might sign for Al-Hilal or Al-Nassr.

It’s reportedly private investment, albeit still Saudi.

No big deal, just that the topic in hand was whether Apple’s interest was valid or just paper talk. Seems at odds with their traditional strategy.

The only really big purchase they made was Beats and that was to plug a gap in their portfolio in line with their device line-up.

Bricking it.😂

If they are gonna be in football I'd rather they done it like LIV Golf and fucked off to own league.

Let them buy Man U and Liverpool then City and the Mags can fuck off to their own league and let us have football back.

I bet they'd sharp miss the PL
Why on earth would they miss the premier league?
Only people who would miss the premier league are the supporters and they are well down the list of considerations. Not a chance these owners would miss the premier league if they got their own league.
No chance Apple are interested, it goes against their entire strategy. What would they gain from it to make it worth the money?

Anything they need (behind the scenes documentaries, etc) can be gained with a cheaper partnership.

If their long-term goal is streaming rights they wouldn’t be allowed those while being in charge of one of the teams.
That’s assuming these teams stay within their current structure. Apple TV may well want a seat at the table if they have another go at their own superleague.

I meant the mags/fans when I said they should have been more clearer

Possibly, but I think investing that £5-8bn in bidding to stream the games on Apple TV+ would be more aligned with their strategy. They've already got the MLB.

They've had their eye on going for a World Cup, but the criticism of Qatar might have made them rethink that. The Qataris have effectively engaged in the most unsuccsessful PR campaign in the history of mankind. 200 billion to just get slated for 12 years.

On another note, my interest in football might disappear in a few years the way this shit is going. I don't want to over romanticise the German 50+1 rule as I know it has its own issues, but I wish we'd had something similar in the EFL/EPL. Sadly that horse has long bolted.
