Did you see Melissa Reddy reporting on SSN just after the opening game? The footage of Infantino loved up first with Putin, then with MBS? It's happening, if it's not already happened, Howy, son. The only way I can see international football cleansing (hmm, maybe not the best word choice, ha, ha) itself is by abolishing Fifa & starting again from scratch. Is that likely to happen? Not on your Nelly. For a nonprofit organisation Fifa makes an awful lot of profit.

It's how sportswashing works. I didn't realise it initially and couldn't work out how bringing more of a spotlight on their regime with their investment in the sporting world would work favourably for them. But seeing how armies of fans fall over themselves to try and call out tenuous examples of hypocrisy I am starting to get it.

The idea is that soon nobody will criticise the Saudis as they have a Disney subscription or they live in a country that committed atrocities or was a bit backwards in its attitudes numerous decades ago. To do so would be hypocritical and therefore maybe the Saudis aren't so bad afterall.

I've always held more of a dislike to Argentina than Saudi Arabia. The Argies don't care for us much either.

I'm glad Saudi Arabia won, I always root for the underdog anyway, but especially v the Argies.

Please don't tell people how to feel or think. It just comes across as patronising 👍

Tbf, they probably haven't watched England the last couple of years. They have been the most tedious football games I can remember watching. I really hope this performance is a sign of how we are going to play in this tournament and if we do Southgate will get the credit he deserves.

No they haven’t at all the euros and world cups were class and we scored a hatful in qualifying

Do you know how long two years are?

If you've enjoyed watching that then good for you but it's obvious that on any subject if the like the person involved you'll go to any ridiculous lengths to defend them, if you don't like them you won't hear anything good said. We have been terrible to watch since half time at the Euro's final.

Also, I'm very happy to give Southgate credit. The problem here is you can't hear a single word of criticism.
