The Spirit of 37 stance - Saudi fixture in Dubai.

The Spirit of 37 would like to make it clear that we cannot and will not support the planned fixture in Dubai. This fixture goes against everything that we stand for and would urge the club to reconsider immediately following extensive supporter feedback across all forms of social media.

Have you had any contact from or with the club?

Is this a statement that has been put to the club?

Our only contact with the club re: this fixture came during the supporters collective meeting last Thursday where the club confirmed they intended to play a friendly but no further details were shared at that time and that the club hoped to share plans with supporters soon.

Tremendous .

Am I missing something with this fixture?

It’s a friendly against a team that happen to be from Saudi. The reaction seems massively over the top. They don’t seem to have any sort of connection to the horrific regime.
Maybe, but are they doing anything AGAINST the regime?

In fact they probably can’t do anything about their rulers.

It’s similar to the stance of if you’re not against racism then you’re a racist.

How do we know they aren’t against the regime?

The difference between being owned by the Saudi government and just happening to play for a club founded there is pretty huge.

Our own club plays in a country under a pretty horrific government. It all just seems a bit daft.

Fair points. To be honest I’m not really fussed. If we apply some form of morality then we shouldn’t play teams from most countries.

Yep, I'm not quite getting this one. It's just a friendly that very few fans (if any) will be attending.

We cüold have chosen a team from any of the other 30 countries playing in Qutar as their leagues will have been suspended. But no, our moronic leaders have chosen a team from this backward, anti human rights, murderous country. As for they don't seem to have any connection to the regime. FFS
