He may have a point....

when I was a kid at school in 70s (near Chester-le -Street).... about half the kids in my class were either Newcastle or Sunderland

..... but the other half were Leeds, Liverpool, ManU

Kids want to support the winners
What you’re missing out there is where their families were from.

Only kids when I was a bairn in Durham that supported Liverpool had folks from other areas or didn’t give a shit about footie

If the Mags start winning trophies and we're treading water in the Championship then kids from all over the North East including Sunderland will jump ship. There's no loyalty these days. I knew of plenty in the 90s from Sunderland who started supporting them.

Howe clearly has Newcastle well drilled and they’re a decent side with a few quality players (Trippier, Bruno, Wilson).

I don’t think they’re anywhere near as good as their form suggests, however, and at some stage I think they’ll level out and finish around 6th, which, tbf, is still pretty good.
90% black and white

Your posts reek of being a mag, well done for outing yourself, thick as a castle wall man.
90% is way OTT, but because of the geography they do have a sizeable majority. I always say this just makes our attendances even more remarkable.

As a percentage of total fans to attending fans, we will be way higher than them imo.

How come we still have such good support then? As they’d all be in their 20s now.

We have a good support when it is going well

The reality is Sunderland need to be doing well to keep the current younger generations happy because if not and sadly Newcastle start doing well then they will go there and watch NUFC

Just seen the video of half a dozen mags kicking fuck out of one Chelsea fan while he's on the ground, they must have ran out of horses.
It’s a bit naughty booting him in the head. Surely they could have took it into leazes park..
Its sneaking back in it seems. Sadly.
Where they were fighting kids walk past that way. It’s typical of the new style knob heads.

They even embarrass themselves when doing well

Not a chance.

Why isn't there a chance?
Take away your support for SAFC for a moment anf put yourself in the shoes of a younger football fan

They have the choice of a team spending millions, challenging in the Premier League top 4 etc or a team plying its trade in the Championship. There will be sadly only be one winner

Sunderland will always have a good decent hard-core following but the harsh reality is the modern day football fan wants to be entertained and see big name players.

Of course this will happen. We lost a generation of supporters during the Keegan era .
No we didn't. I went to school in Sunderland and no fucker supported them.

They sell out every game, unless they build a new stadium and save tickets for general sale, people won't be able to attend their games as they simply won't be able to get a ticket.

If anyone seriously picks them above us and has an affinity to us, they were never a proper fan anyhow. You might get gimps that say they support them but only watch on the telly, but what difference does that make?
