South Stand Muppets

A quick question as far as displays go, is the east stand not a better option for displays? Get bigger and better displays going there due to the length of the stand surely. I donate, and will continue to do so, but it always feel as though the south stand gets the credit for it.

and the East Standers can handle paper responsibly 😁

Sensible lot the east standers. I'd say north was until an idiot threw something at the Cardiff keeper on Saturday. And the fact it's never full enough for a display. Still, id choose to pay to sit in the North over sitting in the south for free.

Is this speculation?
Has something been said to make us think the away is going in SEC and family into Upper N ?

Was in the club statement after the Burnley match. They'd said options being looked at including moving the family enclosure in the context of away fans coming down into the lower bowl.

Noticed a big CCTV camera at the back of the South Stand on Saturday actually. Probably been there for years but was the first time I've noticed it, can only think they've installed it recently along with the cameras they've put in the away end. The police box seem to do fuck all like.

Been in the South Stand for about 5 years now. It's ok, but seems to be an increasing number of utter bellends. I remember one of the night games last season (Cheltenham I think) - literally 6 seconds into the game "Shearer is a wanker" started. I mean, he probably retired before the majority singing it were even born nevermind saw him play. One of the loudest chants on Saturday was "Sheep shagging bastards, you know what you are". Is it the crime of the century? Absolutely not, but is it really necessary when we're losing and have a young team in need of support. Was aimed in particular (along with a load of paper missiles) at Callum O'Dowda when he was subbed off who is Irish. If we went to Cardiff, won 1-0 and they sang shit like that at us (obviously an English version) we'd laugh at them for being so smalltime.

Our fanbase has always been a source of pride, and it terms of numbers we are superb, but in terms of behaviour and originality we're no better than all the other clubs we mock.

Thought the atmosphere in the first few games last season was excellent and it still seemed like a novelty to be back after lockdown, but seems like a lot of people think they can just do what the fuck they want and go on like a dickhead because they're allowed out the house again.
Are you new to football fanbase/chants? when I was a boy in the Fulwell end, songs like that was common, and it was just about the whole home support, carlisle in the cup being one that springs to mind, a bit vitriol is what we need, football supporters are getting soft and wet.

More of that south stand lads 👍
Every fucker is on the defensive, specially the south standers. There is genuine good folk in the south stand, but their stand is being stained by a bad reputation. I sit in the North and you can see from my seat just where the knackers are, tends to be top rows more to the right of the stand. The coked Up chavs who think their solid n that.

As others have said, you couldn't pay me to be sat anywhere near those idiots.

Is it the family section you sit in? Would you be against sitting in NWC or NEC?

Yes I'm in the SEC but I'd probably just stop there, if isn't made into an away section. My youngest is 15 now so I don't really need to be in a family section.

The main problem with the current family section is they just said it's a family section but didn't move the current groups of adults out. They just fitted the families in around them. My suggestion was that you must have an under 14 or under 16 to sit in the new family section so it is less boisterous and sweary for bairns.

They said at a previous supporters meeting that the family section needs moving but they didn't have time to do it for the start of this season.

No doubt it would work for card displays. The question is whether the east standers can be arsed to sing throughout the match, wave flags before every home match, come in early to help us set up & stay late to clear up. Whether they’ll have a hissy fit if we bring a banner out (like on the 11th minute on Saturday), whether they are happy to miss the players walk out due to being covered in a massive flag.

Every display section in world football is also the noisy section. We’d be the only one in the world to do a tifo then sit on our hands for 90 minutes.

I think the whole stadium needs a re-layout. Bring the away fans down, the nackers will be drawn to them and then have a display section with like-minded people, willing to sing, stand, wave flags but not act like complete berks somewhere else in the ground.

Agree with the vast majority of what you've said. However, you don't need to sing to hold up a display. I'm sure most would do everything you've said regarding the display.

There was a lad escorted out on Saturday for drinking in the seats.

I’ve stood in the south stand for years now and have no issue with it. There’s an element of young kids who throw beer about at half time but that’s gotten a lot better recently. Other than that, I rarely see any bother or reason to complain.

Sadly a lot of people on this thread can’t process this mate. Some really poor comments regarding our own supporters. You certainly wouldn’t want mates like that.

I actually have nee clue what the large majority of complaints are about.

The only thing I'm absolutely not a fan of that happens in the south stand is booing the knee.

One of the aims of the group is to improve the atmosphere in the stadium. If we moved somewhere that we know aren’t going to make any noise then it’s counter-productive to what we’re trying to achieve.
