Put a flat earthier into space

Here is some real world science related to water level.

Well that is a very nice story, but it claims that magical gravity makes sea level higher at the equator. If gravity was really that strong then the oceans would be sucked off the earth at the equator. We would be able to go to an equatorial city like Singapore and be sucked off straight away.

No such thing as sucking.

Well that sounds like fun!

I've not been keeping up with this thread much recently, so it's disappointing that Nukey's wummery finally caught up with him. It was fun watching him try to explain flight paths on Flattardia, why a 2m spirit level is perfectly sufficient for proving water level rather than a 451m one and why the southern stars are a reflection of the northern stars and vice versa, but you can't see an inverted Southern Cross from the UK because reasons.

Driving home last night and the wife (no) said how the fuck can that flat earther actually think the moon is a reflection of the sun 😂
Made me think how ridiculous that claim was
Well you see, reflections do not have to match the thing that is being reflected. Like @chelt_mackem said above. The 'so called southern stars' are apparently a reflection of the ones in the northern hemisphere. These are reflected in exactly the same way that reflections do not work on a convex dome and appear completely different.

Then of course there are the details. It is easy to glance up at the sky and think 'oh yeah, stars'. Then see the sky at another time of the year or go to South Africa and think 'oh yeah, stars, seen it'. But look a little closer and you find they are in different positions, have other nebula, clusters, galaxies etc, that look nothing like anything seen in the northern hemisphere. Most conspiracy theories fail once you just scratch the surface of the details.

The sun and moon are the same. Two things of around the same size in the sky. Yeah one could be a reflection if that was the way reflections worked on a dome (but don't). They you consider sun spots, lunar features, the biggy which is the phases of the moon and then really get into the details and watch the changing lunar shadows revealing the 3d nature of mountains and crater edges. Those with advanced solar scopes (HA filters) see various flares and prominences from the sun, none of which appear on the moon. All of a sudden you are left with another epic fail on looking at the slightest of details.
