The Safety of Fans in the North Stand

Move them to the very back of the West stand, as far as you can get them
It'll have to be a good throw to reach anyone from there and if it does it'll only be the first couple of rows of the West stand that gets hit, when KLD and Speakman get hit they'll soon move them.

Simple really😂

It’s nonsensical the club hasn’t done something mind. Just can’t get my head around it. Ah we could get some nets but we’ll wait till someone gets skulled before we put them up 🤷🏻‍♂️

I honestly think they are starting to get nervous about the whole thing. They know Cardiff are next up and if something is thrown, the north stand will just go up.

I can’t see nets being ready for next sat, so all they can really do is have a huge police presence inside of the ground.

I've never been keen on away fans being above the home ones.
Newcastle dont appear to have a longstanding problem with this!or i do i remember a disabled kid getting a hair follicle singed from a paint bomb following a derby?

Lets hope someone in management will listen to people's requests.
Dear National Rail,
I have had many complaints, that on Match days, you are only putting on 2 carriages, to get many many supporters to the matches at Sunderland from Horden.
When the train arrives at Horden from Hartlepool THEY ARE FULL, please please put more carriages on , on Match Days.
Please listen to your customers, and improve facilities at our great new Station at Horden. CoDurham

They have had issues but they have the advantage of being in the premier league. Not only is there more money and you’d expect better security; but getting tickets for away fans isn’t as straight forward.

A lot of visiting fans to SJP will be season card holders with loads of loyalty points and therefore they aren’t normally the sort to chuck stuff and get a ban.

At present, most of the away allocations for the SOL are going to general sale and that increases the risks of wronguns being able to attend.

Using Coventry as an example, they failed to sell their allocation to SC holders and foolishly we give them another 500 which went straight on general sale

@Guinness Guzzler actually wonder what pressure the club could put on northern and its fans being Treat like cattle/shit every home game?
Not sure mate but can't harm to bring it up. If it's impossible for some reason (god knows why it should be in this day and age) then we should at least get a decent official explanation for it. Sadly they get complaints constantly about it, including from people in local government from what I remember, and haven't done anything so I doubt the club asking will have any effect. Completely agree that they should be adding their voice to it though, will request that it's mentioned

71 pages and not yet reached an agreement on how this issue is to be handled suggests that this is not an easy issue to resolve.
The people throwing things are law breakers.
In the old days it was toilet rolls for a bit of a laugh and they did not hurt anybody. moved to coins (ripped up seats anything else to hand) as a more offensive throw towards the other fans.
nowadays it is done in an offensive way with deliberate actions to hurt and injure.
the solution is not an easy decision and there is no simple solution.
some would argue that, why should away fans benefit from wrong doing, at the upset of home fans, being compulsory moved.
But can our owns be left in a dangerous situation.
Is there a reason for the netting not going up. could it be against health and safety as means of escape in case of emergency.
could the same be said for perspex as this was also suggested. I dont know the answers to those questions.
more police, then costs go up and people complain about over policing. better stewards, stewards I understand are contracted in.
I do notice that the stewards seem to be very young and possibly not experienced enough.
However this is a difficult issue to resolve as it does not involve all away fans of all away teams.
Cannot therefore predict easily who is likely to offend. I would never have thought Burnley would have behaved in such a way.
Even when they did, it was after 2nd goal.(when the game was stopped it allowed Burnley to reorganise. I was like a time out in basketball. (side issue)
Due to this, could more cameras could be installed and zoomed in ready to identify offenders as opposed to an operator having to zoom in to facially identify.
(problem with zooming in on an area, it reduces the coverage area of the camera, so concentrating on a little loses sight of the bigger picture
However that does not stop, the danger to those in the lower bowl.
How can that be stopped and we are back to the beginning.
I do think the authorities should hold Burnley or any other offending team to account and massively fine them. duty of away team to warn their supporters.
I also think that the opposing teams should bring there own stewards, not just one or 2 but a realistic amount, to the travelling support. these stewards should know their fans and be aware
of the dangers. their head steward should be shadowed by a safc head steward for liaison purposes.
It is not an easy issue to resolve, but resolved it should be.

Not sure that National Rail has much clout. Did Aviva not hold the contract, which got taken off them? If that is the case Northern Trains are now effectively owned by the Department of Transport. Would probably make more sense to write to the minister in charge of transport, and your local MP. Safety issues should certainly be of major concern.
Bottom line is if you were cattle instead of passengers being crammed in, the operator would definitely get prosecuted.

Why not fine all the clubs whose fans have thrown objects, that should pay for the net,job done
safc do not have the authority to fine others, but as I have said earlier, the authorities should. The proceeds of the fine will go into the coffers of them and not to safc. Take your point though, why should we have to fork out for their wrong doing (apart from the important factor of protecting our own fans.
