Total Sport

Was anyone listening tonight ? Well balanced mag came on discussing sports washing and the dilemma of watching them these days. Came across as sincere and educated. The fans forum guest (and Sunderland rep) basically said those bothered were a very small minority and were only bothered about’football’ and results on the pitch. Even ando (who I don’t mind) said something thing like who cares if we’re winning 4-0 …… Am I in the minority of being bothered by this?

Would Ando or any of their lot care though if they were getting beat off Fulham 4-0 though……the answer of course is ”yes”……..so basically they are not at all bothered about their owners principles as long as they have a decent / entertaining / winning team on the pitch.
we knew that all along though , didnt we ?

Is the ownership politics side discussed on total sport or is it “ glossed “ over ?

Aye I heard that, was surprised the way the Sunderland fan brushed it aside

I wonder what they would say if it was us?

Very true, it is frightening what people will do and think, what they will sweep under the carpet, just so their football ream wins more games
It is sickening

You’re not in the minority. What’s appalling is that a voice for BBC is giving this opinion

Heard on Saturday that no matter, whether we’re home or away we’re on the other frequency rather than the normal frequency on the radio. For years it has been the away team, whether this was Sunderland or Newcastle were on the main frequency and the home game on the other; shocking really

Nice to hear PIF getting a bit heat tonight, they usually don’t speak about it, but they let a few calls go, Mags messaging on whataboot Disney, Facebook, etc, the Makums are just jealous

The club should question this or use another station.

The Saudi takeover has begun. Joke

Used to be a regular listener but the FM thing has sickened me, so don’t listen any more.
They go out of their way to stress how it offers equal coverage, but it in reality, it doesn’t anymore.
Only a matter of time until Sunderland are marginalised.

Previously. FM was the "normal" broadcast and MW/AM was the "alternative" broadcast.

The problem is that it's different now. The broadcasts are FM, DAB, Freeview and Online. The Online switches off during matches leaving just FM, DAB and Freeview, of those either of FM and DAB could really be counted as the "normal" broadcast. They are of equal importance. So, it makes more sense to put one team's matches on one and the other on the other. That way, you don't have to retune your radio.

Personally, living in Seaham, BBC Newcastle is shite on FM in the house, if you get it at all, and perfect on DAB, so, I much prefer Sunderland on DAB.

I think I heard the call you refer to. I agree he came across as being really concerned. I can understand his concern. What did I think about PDC appointment. was he a fascist. We got some stick over that and a number of people said they would not go to the games, because they had been instructed by the miners union, not to go. They even wanted their banner back. the club really got some stick and some of the interviews and stuff said was way over the top. One journalist on tv was speaking with real hatred. Did we care when we won at SJP and PDC dirty knees.

yet up the road, the media refers to the Saudi money etc as a matter of fact issue (which it is) but is not attacking the club with any venom. Should they be getting attacked with venom?

it is a moral dilemma. is there anything a supporter can do, against that. probably not as we cant do anything really against owners of the club in any case except protest.

they had to accept what MA done, so should they just accept the new group.

In law could the premier league stop the takeover. they tried, but caved in at the end.

who will pay the for the license

Difference is PDC was just a bloke with dodgy political opinions, not really doing any harm. Comparing him with the Saudi state is laughable.
