Ross Greenwell to Chester Le Street? anyone heard this one?

As for pissing about with the second team league - dont know why. Standard is really good.

Interesting re Ashington; got talking to one of their lads this season when we played them and he told me that they were relegated from their previous Tyneside league a few years ago when the club was in a bit of a transition. they came back up and won the Tyneside 2's for something like 9 out of 10 years before being promoted into the NEPL system. their seconds were 4rth, from memory, last season. Got loads of good cricketers and vast majority seem to be in that 21 to 31 age group.

CLS CC 2's currently in transition and rebuilding, having never been out the top 2 or 3 for a number of years previously.

Clubs and teams in transition - happens to all clubs and teams at some point. Fact of cricketing life.

Really. Thorpe coming in as skipper? Class bloke. Thought he was struggling at washy with injuries. Didn’t see this coming.
 
Not strictly NEPL but Boldon have signed 4 players in their quest to gain promotion again. Chris Mann, Colin Mann, Zaheer Shabaz and Anthony Brown, all good additions aswell as keeing Botswain for another season.

Just seen that. Canny little spree they've gone on!
 
Too many clubs spending decent sums of money on average players to the detriment of any homegrown talent that may be coming up through the ranks.

The mercenaries have no loyalty to the club and will leave as soon as a better offer comes along or the club fails to meet the target they were hired to achieve.

Making a mockery of local cricket.

They're all pretty decent players for that level, so that should make Boldon one of the favourites for promotion. Esh Winning look like they'll be a bit weaker having lost Turner and Louth to the NEPL. No reason Durham City (I've heard the young Academy lad Hogg has went to Burnopfield) and Seaham Harbour wont challenge again.

No idea about Brandon for next year. If they don't have clubmark then it just seems strange to spend money on winning the league, as they aren't progressing to anywhere. I seen Matthew Brown has left to sign for Seaham Park. If others were to depart then they may struggle to replace as even mercenaries want to see ambition. If they retain core of last years bunch then they'll of course be favourites once again.

Totally agree, volunteers working their backsides off to keep clubs afloat so players with ever decreasing levels of loyalty or gratitude can line their pockets. It will be the ruin of many of the smaller, community focused clubs.

I'd heard he'd agreed to sign for another NEPL team and then decided to go to Seaham Park. Maybe more £££'s being offered.

Can see the harbour winning the league if they retain their pro from this season. He should be batting in the top 4 of a team at the top of nepl or if he was a bit younger in the county championship.

His stats were obscene. By all accounts they have retained him. Looks like it'll be a highly competitive league.
