Any Sunderland strongholds left ?

Birtley badge crew including the rock hard grahmie( one of the biggest nutters in North east) were sunderland, amongst mainly black and whites

What on God's green Earth are you trying to say?
A bit pissed, but I am trying to say, even in amongst geordie strongholds( birtley) there are sunderland. Safc had a gang up there called the birtley badge crew, late eighties early 90's and one of them, ended up an absolute nutter, proper north east gangster(still is).

Hope he grows up before he's jailed. Unless he's messed up innocent people's lives of course.

Aye. He was a nutter. Used to chase us from the service station when we were younguns. Didn't like washy lads, although we ended up going to games together.

The only mags in East Durham apart from a few are scruffy bastards who couldn’t afford the bus fare to Newcastle never mind go to a game.

Okehampton.
Fower of us. 2 of us from the NE, and 2 latched on in 73, and never let go. Canny lads.

There's a few Man City, Chelsea, Man Utd etc. glory hunters, but most support local Exeter or Plymouth.

Nee proper Mags.

I don't know what it is like these days but in the 1970s Kenny Snowden used to run 1 or 2 Martindales coaches from Shildon. You could also get a United from the Hippodrome newsagents. I don't remember ever seeing or hearing of a Newcastle coach.

As I said on another thread I've noticed a marked increase in mag attire in Ryhope/Seaham these past few months, especially over the summer when we had that hot weather. I'd still class them as Sunderland strongholds but who knows what might happen in the coming years. That was my biggest concern when they were taken over, the effect it would have on our club, or more importantly our fanbase and the erosion of it.

I am getting on a bit now and don't get to bothered about what others do.
I have accepted that Newcastle is going to be force to be reckoned with and there will always be glory hunters.
Let them get on with it, there's only room for one team in my life.

Well said marra. Whatever they do I'll always be Sunderland.

Does that go for the tons of Sunderland supporters up here in Ashington and Morpeth whose parents and grandparents came up here to work in the mines. Give yer head a shake man and get on with your school homework!
No

I’m on about all the folk who suddenly jumped on the bandwagon , and loads did , suddenly proud mags who live in County Durham , unless you or your family moved to Co Durham from Tyneside then IMO then yes they are turncoats .
Homework done cheers

Having worked in Newcastle for years loads of them look down their noses at most who live south of Tyne and view them just as Mackems
