Southgate - time to admit this place was wrong?

There isn’t anyone obvious to take over really.

International football rarely gets the top tier of managers.

I’ve no problem with moving on, but I do think he’s done a good job. At least we’ve had some good times, we were awful for a long time

Aye I've never been a big fan of Southgate and he truly bottled that euro final. That said if he walked away tomorrow he goes down in history as our 2nd best manager.

I would have snapped your hand off for a world cup semi and euro final when Woy had Kane taking corners

Read the OP ffs
Maybe try and understand it then
For a few brief flashes last night England looked like a real football team. The sort that plays the game in the way that makes people fall in love with the game itself and not just with their favoured team but the actual game itself. The sort of football that every player, coach, manager, fan, owner aspires too until pragmatism breaks through.
Brazil in 1970and the Dutch team of the mid 70s did it for my generation.........imagine these young England kids getting that good! Awwwwh man!
The Czechs were as poor as I’ve ever seen them tbh though. You can see why both them and the Slovaks have asked permission from UEFA to reunite their auld league.
Oh for a few more brief flashes now.

Used to stick up for him, but these nations league performances have been dire. To have that much attacking talent at his disposal and struggle to score goals is criminal imo.

The circle of a managerial life. He’ll get the World Cup but I don't expect much. If England we ever going to perform poorly at a World Cup, shithole Qatar is the place to do it.

I've never bought into him I admit since his time at Boro. He comes across, if you've met him, as too much of a nice man trying to please, bit of diplomat I'd say, which is exactly what the FA want. As long as Southgate plays out of form players and fits square pegs into round holes then he reaps what he sows.

What you have to think about is , would Southgate get a job with the top six clubs or even the top half ? He might even struggle to get a premiership job at all.
He is very good at creating a club like atmosphere and taking the pressure off the players but technically he is nowhere near top level .
In my opinion , he has been lucky so far but that luck cannot go on forever.
