Derbyshire v Durham 5-8 Sept. County Championship

It's beyond embarrassing. Sooner the better he fucks off and takes some others with him.
Asks the question though, how long has he been using it and is there a chance of backtracking and losing further points 🤔 One mitigating aspect in his defence is he never benefitted from it .George Drissell is off to the nearest Woolies to get a "Winfield" classic

Maddinson
Maddinson had his bat taken off him on one. Was dropped off Reece by the keeper on 6 and is out on 8, clipping a ball from Dal to Conners at point. An afternoon to forget for the Australian.

Bat will be measured again at the end of play and if it fails the size test then it will be sent to the ECB. They will decide the punishment but there is a suggestion it could be equivalent to points gained for a win. So 2 points in T20 or the One Day Cup. 16 in CC.

Maddinson’s bat is too big - needs to be replaced and likely to be a 2 point penalty for Durham

The clubs a bit of a shambles

Seems like a ridiculously excessive penalty that, for starters - it can’t possibly be the club to blame. I’d doubt also that it’s really a batsman’s fault given he doesn’t manufacture cricket bats… 🤷‍♂️

I’m more interested as to how the umpire came to the decision to measure it. Was it a hunch? Or was he told by a member of the opposition?

Reminds me of the ‘Illegal equipment’ penalty in Ice Hockey. It’s sort of an unspoken thing that you don’t really enforce it unless it’s really intentional and I can’t see how in this instance it can be.

Again, it seems like a completely over the top and ridiculous penalty if Durham are docked any number of points.
Haven't taken much notice of the game

Part-timer…
