Put a flat earthier into space

@taipeisafc I wonder what this push pull problem is really about? Like what part of it is connected to the global model so that he has to think the expansion and contraction stuff is all a lie?

I think because oh his total blind faith in the flat earth bible he cannot accept any norms because somewhere down the line the reasons behind it (maths usually) contradict his books preachments. Or he's just an expert in all fields and in the smartest mad to have ever lived.

He doesn't believe in chemistry and physics, I may be paraphrasing or slightly wrong on this but, he believes a solid is completely solid with no "space" and all that happens is that solid expands as the "crushing" is reduced those molecules get further apart and then turn to liquid / gas no there is no change in mass or volume as something is vapourised. I believe he said this was proven as there was obviously no space in a solid and there was even something about density related to this but my brain had fused at that point. I have no real idea why he needs to think this - I suspect it is either to do with his sealed system with a dome so there can't be flows or, more likely, the fact he thinks every single scientific fact is wrong and he knows better so comes up with nonsensical drivel for reasons known only to him.
You can test it by getting a compass that is a sealed & waterproof unit. If the compass needle encased in plastic (or glass) works, then it can not be down to pressure, expansion, contraction, vortex etc, because you have encased it from such effects. Much the same as just moving it indoors. Most walking compasses are like that, as are bubble ones where there is a dial suspended in water, and my diving compass is certainly sealed.

Another idea, so quickly disproven with only 2 seconds of thought.

Is he seriously denying the earth's magnetic field now and how compasses work?

If you go back earlier in the thread or one of the other retard threads, he did claim that magnetism was some form of wind.

Raidiation, Gravity, Magnetism - he doesn't believe any of these exist. Just noticed this is Page 666........

Looking forward to driving up and watching the SLS launch at Cape Canaveral this weekend, absolute scenes when it smacks off the derm.

22 cameras on the vehicle for our CGI pleasure including at least one on its arse end so we can watch space pizza earth disappear in the distance.

Magnetism is wind (that we can't feel and works underwater)
Sound is light
Pull is push
Genius is stupidity at the highest level.

He's an absolute cretin tbh.
It is a worrying sign of mental illness that many share.

Start with something like the earth is flat and there you go, believe it based on some persuasive YouTube videos. But then start to unpick it, especially if in a debate with people who actually know stuff, and it starts to fall apart. But you are religiously embedded in this now. In your mind, the fog has been cleared, you know the truth, you know they are telling lies and you know you are elevated above the sheeple with your knowledge. You can't say 'oh shit yeah' at this point. Get the spade out and keep digging. Afterall, any effect we observe can be waved away with a jumble of sciency sounding words that actually mean nothing together. "Atmospheric votex of discombobulation compressing the muon field within a dense mass". Well who can argue with that?

But before you know it, you genuinely believe and will happily tell others that basically nothing of what we know of science is correct and even the most basics thing, like magnetism is wrong. Maths underpins all Physics, and suddenly you believe that not all right angles are different. Realise you have been using the term mass incorrectly, no problem, just deny that the term volume is what they say it is, call that mass, call something else density and on you go. Not only have you twisted 'science' to fit your agenda, but you actually twist the English language to fit your 'science'.

And the worrying thing behind all this is that for every thing you rewrite or find the "truth" of as you go, because it is not what THEY say it is, it means there is a THEY and THEY are lying about EVERYTHING. Everywhere you look, wind, just looking out your window, how a simple motor works, it is all a lie and a conspiracy. Lies and attempts to control are everywhere and that is frightening.

It is not a healthy state of mind when you break it all down.

I agree, it's definitely not normal at all, just hope he's OK, don't wish harm on anyone no matter how annoying or ridiculous they are.
Some of the stuff is just absolutely ridiculous though like you say.

Do you think it is a need to feel he knows everything? Take magnetism or more precisely, the electromagnetic force. I can't describe why a magnet works, how charged particles work, and then how things like electrons affect electrical circuits. It is essentially all the same thing. I have to get to a point where I say "It just does" and I'm not sure anyone really understands. That is some of the work they are trying to do at the likes of Cern. I'm comfortable with the idea, but if you feel you need to know everything I can see why that is uncomfortable. So he sits one day and thinks about it. Now wind can push a wind dial and that is like a big compass needle......I've got it....etc etc.

No pesky experiments to prove it and if someone comes up with a quick and easy counter like waterproof compasses are fully sealed, just make it a special wind that can blow through gaps in the molecules of plastic and can never be blocked. Same as you can never have cloud at projection central.

I think this is it in a nutshell.
All proof, science, maths, visual evidence of a globe fits together.
Flat earthers have to invent, change or ignore explanations because, as you say, somewhere down the line they contradict themselves.

As @peachy mentioned in an earlier post, at what point does challenging his nonsensical views become bullying?

I'm not gaslighting him here but I agree with you, his recent reactions to entirely logical rebuttals are not the product of a healthy mind.

If that is indeed the case then I think we should consider locking this thread.

As there's a lot going on at present with the James Webb telescope, Artemis etc, it could perhaps be replaced with a general space thread?

What does everyone think?

How does light move along the wavelength from the carbon arc to the ice dome superfluid surface when the area is too cold and man and machine are stopped dead?

He sees is as a debate so I don't think closing the thread is necessary. If other think it's bullying then for his well being lock the thread but he would have to be locked out of other science related threads as the same debate/bullying would happen again when he pops up and starts spreading falsehoods about NASA, space, science, cgi etc etc.

It is difficult. This thread was a general discussion about flat earth supporters and what drives them, and I think it is reasonable to discuss. Then there is the other aspect where when challenged people have said "how does that work", some of the things we take for granted. That is a healthy discussion, and I know I have learned a lot from this thread, both from others and from prompting me to investigate a few things myself. But, you are right and it has become a focus of one individual. There are remarks posted directly at him, but it goes both ways. I've been told I'm a liar, completely wrong, careless in observations and easily led so a bit stupid and blinded to facts.

I think let it continue when there are things to discuss, but we all need to be aware of where the fine line is challenging someone in a debate and bullying.

I have thought for a while that this thread has run its course. It has been interesting, illuminating and completely barking, but it has done its time. Imho.

A general space thread would be good though.
Perhaps @Pancho could start one with an outer space photograph?

I dunno. I mean, it's not like the feller is forced to come onto the thread.

It's surely important that we challenge barmy ideas like his in a public space like this so that anyone thinking "you know, maybe it is flat" can instantly see all the proof that the notion is in fact utter drivel.

If they don't read those ideas here, they might read them in a flat earth forum or Facebook group, where it's heavily censored against anyone calling them out on their lies and where sensible people of science are banned quickly, leading to an echo nebula where loonstars like Nukey are born.

‘THEY’ invented the internet, cars, busses, processed food production lines, bridges, compasses, the phone or PC he uses. All based on scientific developments over many years. But some of less tangible things he is exposed to daily are fake mainly on the basis of his lack of comprehension. But he obviously has faith in the science behind an internal combustion engine for example as I doubt he walks everywhere.
Quite an intentional and selective view in the world.

But the pistons, do they pull or push?

Explain again how the "vortex" moves a compass needle?
The vortex that we can't feel, isn't magnetism and doesn't really move around it stays steady in one direction, unaffected by wind or strong water currents.
The vortex that doesn't push or pull but sort of does push.....
Have you ever been in water that is rough from above but a little below it's not rough yet still holds a force?
And then even deeper it holds much less rough-looking force but a more dense force that appears to look calm yet obviously isn't by feel.

Now imagine a whirlpool where you're away from the actual central force. You know the part that you get pushed into faster and faster but farther to the outer edge it becomes more manageable.

I'll let you ponder this and see how deep you want to think about it. I'm fine if you cast it aside but you do seem interested.

What if.........What if......What if most of what you're told and how what you're told works, actually work differently from what you've believed?

Can't happen, right?
Everything told is the truth, right?

Or is it?

I never said it was some form of wind but I did say it was part of the atmospheric vortex of pressure.
It all depends on how it's taken by whoever.

What has that got to do with how your vortex affects a sealed compass yet water doesn't?
Can you explain how it works on a compass needle?

@fyl2u

Thank you for your input.

Any more comments lads and lasses please?
I think it's been a really interesting thread with some amazing input from some and as long as we try not to get too insulting (tbf I called him a cretin) keep it going.
Just my opinion mind.

It's all about who cares to look deeper into what's been said. I see you prefer to take the shallow end which is fine as many will do so.
