Jason Roy article

not me saying it
I think there is a difference between him been dropped from the one day side and the T20.

Much easier to drop him from T20 as Bairstow should open with Buttler imo.

However in 50 over cricket less options to open and would stick with him for the time been in that format.

I think it'd do him the world of good to have a rest from international cricket.

He looks broken mentally. He's obviously a brilliant player but he doesn't look like he can bat his way out of this dip in form.

Tbf he's always been feast or famine (my dad has never liked him for just that reason, even going back to when he first broke into the Surrey side  )

Also think the article makes a good point - once you start dropping players it sends a message that runs are more important than the way you play, which is the opposite of the point the white ball side has been hammering home for the last seven years.

Players can play with freedom, knowing they won't be dropped for a bad run of form.

He'll come good again. He's too good not to.

Is not about scores tho, he’s getting out after eating up balls. It’s not like he’s holding out after 20 off 8.

Yeah same goes for Livingstone in the sense that he is get criticized for doing exactly what the team wants him to do.

T20 can be be like that, even Buttler who looked a million dollars in the IPL has kicked on.

The one day side and the T20 is more or less the best players and personally I think it’s good to show loyalty to players.

Both sides don’t need many changes imo, just a couple of players going through in rough trot which will happen when you playing very positive cricket, selectors just need to hold their nerve imo.

Having said all that Roy is definitely due a score and like poster above says he is not only not getting scores he is also not getting that quick start which he is essentially in the side to do.

im not sure if he is playing in the 100, he is though, so that will be his opportunity to get scoring again

Roy's form has never been right since he was disciplined by the ECB.

Might be a coincidence but it makes you wonder.

Hales getting a call up feels unlikely. I have no idea what he did to upset the powers that be, but it must have been a belter to see him irrevocably sidelined. The only slight glimmer of hope for him is the retirement of Eoin Morgan, who seemed utterly determined to ensure that Hales never played in one of his teams again

I am one of his biggest fans mate, but his form has nosedived so much in recent weeks/months, there was a bit of inevitably about this happening, especially taking into account other opening options they have.

You can’t pick players so out of form for World Cups

Would still play him in 50 over games for England mind.
