Mowbray confirmed

Solid appointment. Blackburn were a basket case off the field and he had them in the Top 6 most of last season.

This talk of data driven appointments is now clearly a right old bag of shite. The data now says that another out of work, cheap option, manager is our best choice.

We got lucky with Neil as no one wanted him at the time. However I think Mowbray will do enough to keep us up and I’m right behind him.

Ok well at least this time it was t three weeks. Let's see what happens. He's got a good set of players to work with, just needs maintaining... For more than a handful of months.

Not really been following this, but it seems folk are pretty happy with Tony Mowbray? What's the general reason for that? I don't really know him from Adam, but he has a boring name and doesn't seem to have set any leagues alight previously.

I don’t recall ever seeing where the club said that the head coach would be appointed using a *data driven* approach, I stand to be corrected of course.

Wasn't my choice for manager but I can see the reasoning behind it. Employed now so we need to get behind him 100%.

At least he won't feck off to be closer to home, unless of course Hartlepool don't come after him.

Yesterday, somebody asked me a follow-up question about Blackburn's xG during our decline in February-March.
That thread is no longer open.
The answer is that our xG dropped by 7% but the conversion-rated dropped by 27%

The forum. Half of them give the impression that they're lifelong Leonard Cohen fans.
Leonard Cohen eh, sure I was at a concert (IoW 1969 ish)where he was booed off stage....but maybe it was Kris Kristofferson (sp?),
Anyway, welcome Tony M and look forward to further improvement on and off the field during your time on board.

In his first season with WBA, he took the team to the Championship play-off final, where they lost.
The following season (2007-08), having brought in lots of young players (at a maximum cost of 3 million), the team won the Championship title and also reached the FA Cup semi-final.
The team struggled in the PL and he was sacked, although a lot of supporters were against that decision.
He has a mixture of success and failure on his CV.
Outside a tiny PL elite, which manager doesn't?
Last season, with Blackburn Rovers, most of us were staggered to find the team in second place at the turn of the year. Pre-season predictions had us mid-table, at best.
The very poor run in February and March made it almost inevitable he would depart.
The odd thing was, the defence remained strong.
We simply couldn't score!

Welcome Tony lad to the biggest club in the North East, with the most loyal, passionate support.

First job...........to bring that Chilean goal machine you had at Blackburn to the Stadium of Light, and 3pts tonight.

You'll have my full support, and I'll certainly give you a Roker Roar as you take your seat on the bench tonight. I'll be travelling up to the North East today secure in the knowledge we've someone who really understands the passion of this club.

Ha'wwwwwwwwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay Tony lad FTM

Best of luck to him, so long as he brings the team together and they play out of their skins im happy.

Oh and few subs now and again would be great, ta.

Dunno if anyone else has posted this link to an interesting interview with our new Smoggie manager - but it does give an insight into his character

Being as how I’m roughly the same age and come from a very similar background, I can overlook his two heads

Good luck Tony - we’re all behind you (unless you lose to the Boro of course 😉)

I follow a few different teams since I'm from the States and I can say that so many times the best coach ends up being someone that people are conflicted about.

We've all seen those managers that the entire fanbase is excited about and it turns ugly within a year. Aston Villa and Gerrard for example.

We just gotta trust that Speakman pulled out another good hire.

I think most would agree that he picked the right guy in AN but he didn't realize that AN was actually a 14year old boy going thru puberty.

Im willing to trust Speakman on this one. He didn't create this situation so I can't blame him for it.
