Amad Diallo

If we go to a back 4 then it's a funny one. Wouldn't have ONien or Cirkin in a two so leaves Batth, Wright and Alese until Ballard is (shouldn't be out too long with metatarsal) so we either bring in someone way better who will be first choice when he's back, bring in someone good enough to be first choice till hes back, then have as competition, or stick with it and use ONien as a last resort if we get another injury.

RB is bloated with players who can play there as an interim for the odd game but every week is a concern. Realistically we need to shift one or two to sign either.

And we don't really have a back up LB (think Cirkin is more suited to that left sided CB role as well) although Alese might be able to fill in there but again takes cover away from CB.

It does depend on how long Ballard is out for central defence. If it is 6 weeks then we could possibly try and get away with it.

RB is a weird position for us. We have 4 players that can play there but apart from Hume they're more stop gap options. In an ideal world I'd bring a right back in and loan Hume out and sell Winchester

I'm expecting closer to 8 so another 6ish really.

Winchester needs to go. I'd add Onien to thst as well tbh. Hume I'm not sure on. Might be worth keeping for now and revisiting in Jan.

I'd understand if the club decided they're not going to replace Ballard if it isn't too much longer until he is back. I wiukd love another centre back but probably got other more pressing issues!

I like what I've seen from Hume but a loan to L1 would be more beneficial for him I feel.

It may well be in the long run but not so confident starting with Gooch RB without much else there. Hume seems the only out and out RB we have currently have on the books. I'd rather see how Gooch/a new RB pans out first then loan Hume out in Jan if the coast is clear.

I'd only loan him out if we signed a right back.

We need cover and as we know he can cover almost everywhere.

We also need balance in the squad and some players shifting. He's not a cb in a two, not really a RB for which we have a load who can fill in there, and is awful in midfield. If we still add to the squad in defence, either CB or RB then he nust ends up as cover for cover for cover.

We don't seem to have been linked to many full backs all summer, it almost as if they think we've got enough.
