Football Insider say it's Mowbray.

That's a question for another season. For all we know, he's coming in only till the end of the season to give us time for a proper search. Four weeks of Procter and Dodds now could be disastrous. Safe pair of hands in quick makes a lot of sense.
Feb, March etc then aye, maybe. We're in August, the transfer window's not even shut yet. Absolutely no reason we can't do a proper search. And considering speakmans talk about his ongoing, constantly updated list (or however he worded it) of coaches to fit our requirements, then there's really no reason whatsoever for writing the season off with a plodder.

On paper, is he that big a downgrade from Neil?

Although I'm retired, I'm still a chartered accountant, and subject to all the rules, which govern both personal and work behaviour. I can be subject to disciplinary proceedings if I bounce a cheque. So, there's an uncomfortable crossover area for me.
Well said GOM the old ethics still tie you down but hey ho the back of fag packet and “finance experts” know better……………….

Arguably not, if we were talking about both as new appointments but we're not. Neil had the squad, the results, momentum, feel good factor, and fans all going for him and on his side after last season. Mowbray has none of it, he has an immediately split fan base, a promotion about 15 years ago, and a history of mid table nothingness. Personally, I have aspirations higher than that, and I believe the squad to be better than that.

Why?

He plays attacking football
He like an aggressive press
He has a track record of developing players, and getting in good loan players (eg Elliott and Adarabioyo)
He plays 3-5-2 or 2-4-3-1
He has a good record and deep knowledge at Championship level

That seems to tick pretty much all the boxes.

So started the season with a back 4 then changed to a back three before going on an awful run from Jan and sacking it off for a back 4 where he picked up couple of wins again.

10 wins from 27 (win % 37.0)
9 wins from 19 (win % 47.3)

20/21 Season played 0 games with a back 3
19/20 Season played 0 games with a back 3
18/19 Season played 3 games with back 3 losing 2 of them.

Dear god I forgot he signed Rodwell.

might be in the minority here, but i am satisfied with this considering the timeframes involved, and my realistic ambitions for this season.

perceived ambition and outcome are two totally different things.

One day some fans will actually understand this

This

KLD could have “ambitions” to win the premier league but it ain’t going to happen.

Genuinely who do these posters claiming the club need to show “ambition” want?

I think the league is poor, but people are over estimating us aswell. We conceded for too many and tire after 70 mins. We aren't close to a top 6 team.

Exactly

We’ll be nowhere near Norwich Sheff Utd Watford etc no matter how much “ambition” we show. We’ve had a canny start but all of a sudden we should be play off contenders, with our league one plus one or two signings squad.

Think some people should be giving their heads a wobble. The entire reason we hate Neil is the same reason it’s hard to find a manager this time of the year. We’re 5 games into the season.

The players are good and have good character, I think Mowbray will do fine. Will be a one year deal anyway.
Every manager gets our support to be fair, We have initially backed Grayson, Parkinson and all the other useless clowns we have employed.

I’m not entirely against Mowbray, but its disapointing that thats all we can get. It stinks of just writing a season off 5 games in and shows nothing towards progression and improvement. Its piss poor from the club IMO.

I think when people say we should be showing ambition they want to see a better squad than the same squad that was signed for LJ to get out of league 1 (that finished 5th) plus one or two additions.

Are they ignoring

Simms
Ballard
Alese
Clarke signing permanently
Roberts signing permanently
Bass
The Costa Rican kid
Broadheads arse dropping as he wouldn’t play despite being agreed

Etc

Who do they want us to sign?

We’ve got the third highest spending in the league, but aye nee ambition

The hand wringing going on here is sad. I would love to see us win the championship and go up or top 6 and win a play-off, realistically don't think its going to happen.
We came 5th in league 1 and made it through play-offs. I would like to see us be around the playoffs but if we don't make it so be it. I just don't want to see us hanging around the relegation spots, I've had enough disappointment over the last 5-10yrs. Just want to enjoy watching from afar and hopefully see us go forward.
