Football Insider say it's Mowbray.

Nah we appoint someone who wants to play the style of football that will suit our young squad and get the best from our best players. The stuff I've read suggests Mowbray likes attacking football played on the deck, should suit the likes of Pritchard, Clarke, Neil, Stewart.

He has achieved promotions btw and just last season he finished 8th with Blackburn.
In his 20 year management career he has been promoted only twice, out of the 7 clubs he has managed he has failed to get a 50% winrate in 6 of them… the odd one out being Celtic… where he was sacked.

Absolutely.
It sounds like a pragmatic appointment.

Will it be exciting? Almost certainly not.

Can Mowbray get a similar tune out of these players? Who knows? Probably not.

Will we see charismatic press conferences and post match interviews? No

But maybe it buys the club some time and he ought to be able to keep us in the division.

I guess the frustration is that it looked like neil was building something really good and for him to get a top job, would likely involve him taking us up again. Blown out of the water in a flash. Not Mowbray’s fault of course.

We'll probably finish in a similar place to that we would likely have achieved with Neil. Somewhere around 12th.

He'd only a few years and achieved what Mowbary has in 21
I think one difference between Mowbray and both Johnson and Neil is that TM has managed at high level clubs which play high intensity matches in front of big crowds

To be honest I liked both Johnson and Neil but I dont think either of them had the tough edge you can always see on Tony Mowbray - even when he was playing for the Smoggies

We'll watch a championship club Manning and regret it. So frustrating.
Grayson, Parkinson, Mowbray all plodders that should have never been considered for Sunderland. We’re bottom 3 under Mowbray… hasn’t got a clue about modern football.
I wouldn't say bottom 3 like.

No it isn’t
Everyone licking his ring suggestion he is steady.
Two promotions everyone focusing on.
Two relegations and 9 month with a big club where he got the boot.

Terrible appointment coupled with nepotism and gentleman’s club.
Suggesting someone is 'steady' is hardly 'licking his ring'
Not everyone is focusing on his promotions - they're actually more concerned with his attacking, high press style of football, his ability to develop youth talent, the fact big prem clubs trust him with their loan players like Harewood-Bellis, Harvey Elliot, Adarabioyo and the fact he finished 8th, 6 points of the play offs in this very same league last season.

It's not a terrible appointment. It's not exciting or overwhelming, it's a steady pair of hands for team that's just spent 4 years in league one in their first season back in the Championship in 5 years.

I'm sure you'll be the first to hold your hands up though if we have a decent season?

Completely and utterly untrue. Pure ignorance
