Football Insider say it's Mowbray.

Underwhelmed to say the least. It’s like Simon Grayson or Parkinson all over again, when everyone said they will be a solid appointment to steady the ship. Considering we were already looking good for a possible play off place push I’m not sure what and why the ship needs steadying.
Haway man play off push ?!?! The season has just started.

Out of work - I can see Mowbray sporting a donkey jacket as a down and out in one of those gritty dramas in an industrial town.
Talking about Down and Outs. I was walking past this ragged guy with a battered guitar and he was singing “When I was young Life was so Wonderful”.
I said that was Supertramp. He said well thanks very much sir.

Desperate for a quick appointment due to the two clowns who couldn’t manage an under 13s team is the case imo.

My gripe is there wasn’t a safe pair of hands to step in when Johnson was sacked and we are in the exact same position now as the arrogance of Speakman hasn’t reflected on that situation which nearly cost us promotion. Nearly every club in the country except Safc will likely have stand in option available from within - we realised we didn’t after Johnson and it’s criminal that contingency situation hasn’t been rectified.

That said I think Mowbray is a decent appointment baring in mind our goal for this season is probably to hit mid table.
Agree with all of that. I do hope its just til the summer and we can look to someone younger to hopefully stay with us a few years and build after that mind

Where’s this promotion push talk come from? We are short on numbers and despite some encouraging performances have yet to win a home game. If Mowbray keeps us mid table he’s done a good job
I think its probably from the games we've played so far against decent sides who, if we'd had strength coming from the bench could have still been unbeaten

Think our realistic aims for this season depend on if we can keep Stewart fit. If that happens there's no reason why we can't finish mid-table but if he sustains any sort of injury which keeps him out for a decent length of time I think we'll struggle as I don't see a lot of goals in the rest of the squad. And as for Mowbray it just screams of a short-term fix which is exactly what the club are allegedly looking to steer clear of.
IMO the club will want to steer clear of a potentially risky appointment, because if we were to go down this season, there’d be no coming back from it.
I’m also ambitious for my club, as we all should be, but I’d rather walk before we can run.

Not mine or a lot of peoples first choice, but probably no worse/better manager than Alex Neil. The plus is we haven't had a process lasting several weeks and the bloke is ready to go straight away and there will be no distraction from the recruitment team over the next few days.
Haway the lads and haway Mowbray who will have my full support.

If that was the case stoke might as well have just hired him rather than paying compensation

WOW

I and other will get behind him and give him a chance because that's what fans will do.

However I reserve the right to be both disappointed and underwhelmed and no one can convince me to the contrary.

There's a number of reasons and some of them being that how does he fit this lauded model we have? It's night and day comparing him to Alex Neil and Johnson when it comes to coaching.

Secondly he's hardly hit any remotely dizzy heights during his managerial career with zero promotions on his CV. He's noted for taking Blackburn to 8th after having a terrible end to last season and for taking Middlesbrough from 22nd to 12th and safety. Suggesting that this is nothing more than a stop gap appointment and part of an incremental plan to simply survive. Meaning that Tony will have to do one before we hopefully go on to challenge for playoffs etc.

Thirdly it's no surprise he is unemployed, like Neil before him, further suggesting we don't have two pennies to rub together to prize a manager of calibre out of a job.

It might come across like I do, but I don't have anything against him but I can't think of a worse appointment, other than your merry go round charlatans a la Pardew, Hughs and Curbishley. Yes the likes of Dyche may be lingering for Prem jobs and perhaps rightly so, but when folk like Chris Hughton are out of work one does wonder wtf we're up to at times.

In addition this lauded model does nothing than boil my piss. Speakman has done nothing in football to suggest he should wield authoritarian power at the football club. The idea that he sits above a manager is palpable, I have no issue in him working alongside and in fact most DOF models have a degree of cooperation and shared responsibility, it's rare to see it utilised the way we do.

We started the season daring to dream, now the wind has been swept from our sails and the ambitions of those above made public meaning that a limp across the finish line will suffice.
Got WBA promoted from the Championship to the Premier League.

Got Blackburn promoted from League 1 to the Championship, solidified their position in it and continually improved leaving them after finishing 6 points outside the playoffs last season whilst playing good football (aggressive high press, attacking football) and promoting and developing youth.

Will be a good fit for us this season and potentially next.

We've got quite an exciting squad with young talent looking to be moulded into a strong unit, and this just feels like a step backwards. Football is changing and we can see relatively unknown up and coming managers now doing well and playing good football.

It feels like hardly any time has passed and we're already looking at TM who is, with respect, the previous generation of football not where it is heading.

I suppose it always boils down to results, but I've loved how we are trying to play our football recently and I really hoped the next manager would be in that ilk. Oh well, just have to wait and see of course.

Sky bet (which was the only market taking bets i think?) has now removed the market. Last i saw an hour ago he had been down to 1/5.
