Last year Blackburn had an average squad age of 23 and one of the Blackburn supporters said that he was good at developing players which is probably our main goal. He wouldn't be my choice but I definitely don't think he's bad by any means. There hasn’t been a great deal of dignity shown by Mowbray towards SAFC in the past mind.
I think this appointment is poor. Lots of others do for football reasons too (some will get nastily personal which is obviously unreasonable). We’re being sold a vision about modernity, youth, development and long termism. Mowbray has quite a dour persona, has not spoken kindly of the club in the past, has a pretty mediocre record and has not been liked as a manager by most clubs he’s been at (despite him being loved as a player at Boro and Celtic).
Does the appointment feel brave and optimistic? Does it feel ambitious? Does is it feel fresh and well researched? Does it feel as though it’s imaginative? Does it seem well researched and data driven? To me, the answer is no to all of the above and that’s a bit of a let down give what the supposed vision of the club is. Mowbray is local, available, and friends with Harvey. It feels every bit like an appointment the old regime would have made.
It feels very flat to me
I'm not saying Mowbray Is a better manager mind because I don't think he is. I'm just not sure he's the moron people are portraying him as.Tbf they are better finishes.
However Neil has done the same in 9 years as Mowbray has done in 20? (PL promotion and league 1 promotion?).
And he got Jack Rodwell playingOr you could flip it and say he's the only manager to get a tune out of Danny Graham in the last decade.
I'm no Mowbray fan but there's so much shite posted about him it's bizarre.
That would worry me that he’s going backwards tbh. 15, 15, 11 & 8 would be better8th 11th and 15th twice . Be still my beating heart
You do realise this board is a massive parody on the real life Sunderland support most of the time.My point is that those clubs all thought TM was worthy of being their manager, yet the vast majority of posts on this thread make it quite clear that he's not worthy of your club.
Spin it how you want - the arrogance and attitude towards the bloke is shocking.
Personal insults too - bet all that changes if he has you up towards the top of the league.
A good season and we will again have a huge fanbase -just saying
We didn't appoint Alex Neil in this division though. In Neil, we appointed a decent championship manager while we were stuck at the level below. The performancea and promotion obviously earned him the good will going into this season.Didn't we support Alex Neil? Who has an extremely similar record in this league but we were all wanking him off as the saviour of Sunderland.
Watch them give the dinosaur a 3 year deal
You win the technicality here of course. However that seems to suggest that we’d be getting a comparable coach to heroin chic skeletor. I’d be happy with that given everything.18/19 Alex Neil and PNE finished 14th and Tony Mowbray with Blackburn finished 15th
19/20 Alex Neil and PNE finished 9th and Tony Mowbray with Blackburn finished 11th
Identical to Judas's few seasons at Preston.15th, 11th, 15th prior to that. I dare say they won't be creaming themselves if they are our next 3 seasons.
As much chance of going up as going downNo no that would mean zero chance of going up in those 3 years
It’s Mogga not MozzaGive him a chance haway the Mozza
You said last night Mowbray was a dinosaur because nobody has taken a chance on him. Yet Alex neil was put of work for nearly a year and dropped down to league one.He was out of work

Not strictly true. Owen Coyle takes the main blame for that. TM was brought in to save us but most of the damage was already done. He had us playing mid table form in his time here and we went down on a record points total and on goal difference. Then brought us straight back up.Relegated Blackburn also.
Neil was a much better appointment. And was the best option last time roundOf course we are disappointed of the events of the past few days. However, most of us are fair minded and SAFC fans will give Mowbray a chance.
Mowbray has some bridges to build mind as he hasnt been too kind to us when speaking about us in the past from what I can recall.
Not an appointment to set our pulses racing but neither did AN's appointment. He has a decent bunch of lads to work with so lets see what he does.
Onwards and upwards (hopefully).

And you’d appoint …?Awful appointment if true the poster child for bang average.
