Football Insider say it's Mowbray.

If true, all we can do is start again and support him. Will give him a fair chance
exactly. we're supposed to be the only ones who were care about 'Sunderland', the manager and players come and go. We have to back whoever is there at the time.

What has Neil done that mowbray hasn’t  Some of the reactions on here are pathetic ffs. He finished 8th in this league last year while we were 5th in league 1.
as previously stated finished 8th was down to diaz, they only 5 of last 20 games, in that period Diaz didnt play in 10

It's someone that we're going to want to replace within the next two years. Don't like that type of appointment.

That’s my main problem with this. I genuinely don’t mind a period of consolidation given where we’ve been, but this feels so underwhelming. The club will almost certainly have to change manager to progress, assuming Mowbray gives us this stability that he supposedly will.

Not an exciting appointment but not a poor one either. I’ll get right behind him and hopefully he can steady the ship. Let’s just move on.

Its a dull appointment by the club .

I can see the logic to it in the short term but he would be here 15 years and not get us promoted. Someone like Manning on the other hand could he a risk but it is unknown how far he would be able to take the club

Take it you missed the report on him by the Blackburn fan??
the single fan with a purely subjective opinion or what about the boro fan who gave a good report or even the one that didnt ....get it carved on stone tablets as a matter of fact shall we....I get it you dont like him youve made that abundantly clear but dont invent 'evidence' to support your point of view

An under achievement to finish 8th, how? I bet Tomasson doesn't finish 8th this season. They have the worst xg in the entire league.

And if the squad was so good, does Mowbray get praise for building it on peanuts?
Players who have been tipped to move to the premier league. You could argue he deserves credit for the way he’s built them up yeah. But as the dust of last season settled, and two relatively poor sides in Luton and Huddersfield finished top 6, I think overall it was a big anticlimax, especially as they hit 2nd briefly in February. I recall similar poor runs at WBA in 2007 which we benefitted from and at Boro on 2 occasions. His streaks aren’t as pronounced as LJ’s but there are similarities, Blackburn won’t finish top 8 no but Van Hecke, Lenihan, Nyambe have all departed and Brereton-Diaz likely too.

We've been in league one for four years and had a half decent start with a very young team who have just been let down big style...now is not the time to throw a young inexperienced coach into the mix...Mowbray could be an excellent appointment for the situation we find ourselves in...He won't give a toss if he doesn't come across exciting in interviews with all the bullshit soundbites and cliches but will keep us okay this season

Oh good - an exciting young manager to match our new model. 😎
Oh - that Tony Mowbray. 😐
Oh. 😏

Ah well, you have to assume Speakman has researched all the candidates in depth and this is the best match?

It's not so much how good Mowbray is, it's whether the club see him as a temporary ballast, or if they're content to muddle along for several seasons to come.

Nothing wrong with him being appointed if he's a stopgap until a higher calibre coach becomes available. It's all a question of if the owners have any ambition at all.

Maybe that was what they did with Neil, waiting until this clown gets the nod.
A joke of an appointment.

as previously stated finished 8th was down to diaz, they only 5 of last 20 games, in that period Diaz didnt play in 10
What about the 15th and 11th the 2 seasons before? He’s a solid championship manager which let’s be honest is what we should be aiming for next couple of years. Also it’s no surprise a team drops off when their best player is injured, fairly standard. I know a fair few Blackburn lads and they all to a man rated him highly and were disappointed he left.
