Tony Mowbray Rumour

Position , singular .

Depends how you define “premiership experience” , he had one season and was relegated.
Fair comment although didn’t AN get relegated and sacked too? Don’t misunderstand me, I’m not suggesting it’s an inspired appointment but weeks of searching whilst we don’t even have assistant coaches (who are leaving for stoke I think?) would be a serious mistake. So even if he gets it to the end of the season maybe?

Aye. Would come in and be steady away and buy us time to find what woukd look like a more long term appointment. Blackburn finished 6 points off the play offs with a very young squad.

He also had the second best striker in the league on his books at Blackburn
Well, he'll have the best striker in the league here.
Couple of my mates already said they not going on Wednesday. We sit in BCB so they be losing fair bit of money by not attending. I take my 13 year old so got no choice but to go but don’t blame anyone for not going.Proper uninspiring, shite appointment.
Eh? They'll be losing a few quid beer money, hardly f***ing Brewster's millions. Fuck them anyway if they're that snowflake.

Agreed and of course I don’t know whether TM was backed in the transfer market by the WBA board during that season. But given it was 16 yes ago , for me anyway , his boat has sailed , I would, like I suspect a lot of our fans , be totally gutted by the announcement of his appointment.

on reflection from initial shock and horror i think big tony is prob what we need right now.. get us stabilised in this division is really all we need right now..

Don't imagine the powers that be will want or expect play offs or promotion this season. He'd deliver the same results (give or take) as Neil would and be more inclined to give the younger squad additions some game time, rather than saying they're for the future.

His record is really not any worse than Neil's. Still find some of the comments to against him a bit harsh.

Finished higher last season with one of the youngest squads in the league and higher than Neil has finished in 4/5 years.

My initial response to TM was no. But, upon reflection, I think he may be the right choice. His sides play the way we want to. He develops youngsters. He did an excellent job at Blackburn just last season. He’s not a fashionable young coach but, if he was then people would be keen for him based on what he has just done at Blackburn.
Manning etc play a more patient, passing style and it would take quite a lot of adjusting.

As an appointment until the end of this season he pretty much ticks every box.

Madness to think you are guaranteeing stability with Mowbray. Every appointment is a gamble, nothing is guaranteed by experience. The experience of the manager just lowers the risk but absolutely does not give you a mid table finish by default. Some short memories among Sunderland supporters.

So do you raise the risk even higher by appointing somebody with no experience at this level. Of course there's no guarantees so what's your suggestion

Aye the club will be fucked without the 50 odd quid off ya mates.

Short memories indeed, like dropping out of this very division like a rock the last time and 4 years struggling to get out of league 1. Mowbray has vast experience, played over 500 games and managed 800. I might be wrong but I think there's only 1 relegation on his cv as a manager and that was West Brom after he took them up as champions (playing great football).

It'll not be Mowbary.

The club's philosophy is buy young, sell for profit.

This will also refer to a manager. You get a young manager coming in on a long contract, he does well and gets poached, we pocket the cash and move on.

Mowbary has no sell on value
