Tony Mowbray Rumour

Mowbray will do a good job tbh- and has done a good job recently- I'd have snapped your hand off for Mowbray a year or two ago. People are going on like we've dug up another howard wilkinson- or joe kinnear

If Wilder was to leave tomorrow (don't want him to), then yes I would like TM as Boro's manager again - hopefully with more resources than he had last time.

More to the point - what's the reasoning for the mass dislike of him managing sunderland?
And, what's with all the personal insults directed at him?
Agree with that. Of course he wouldn't be an exciting appointment but he wouldn't be a bad one and would certainly have some logic to it. However, you are mistaking arrogance for ambition. Last two or three years we have git the best ever attendances in the 3rd division - better than Leeds or Man City or anyone else did. 50k fans to Wembley etc. Yes, I know that counts for nothing but it means we have a right to aspire to emulate clubs who get smaller crowds. That's all it is - aspiration. And Mowbray, while quite a safe appointment, is neither aspirational or exciting. But to repeat I wouldn't be against him, just not excited.
Just spoke to super kev in the boat house, 100% not going for it. Don’t let the bookies get your coin.
What do you mean? Kev said Sunderland aren't going for Mowbray?

Oh I'm friendly enough mate - never had a fight or serious falling out with anyone in my life.
Life's too short.

Just think the attitude towards Mowbray is shocking.
He has a decent managerial record and has his teams playing decent football (imo).

Thinking that Sunderland should be 'aiming higher' purely because you're Sunderland really is quite arrogant (and deluded) - not aiming that a you personally btw.

Sunderland have done nothing for near-on fifty years, and not a lot for yonks before that, that in itself proves that you can't seriously think your club is in a position to be attracting managers of a higher calibre than TM.
Agree with all of this.

It will be a mediocre appointment. I don't think anyone can dress it up any other way. He did OK at Blackburn but they were on the rebound from terrible mismanagement and he was able to operate under the radar. He's struggled in high pressure situations. Celtic for one and he also lost it at the end of his West Brom career. I'm not sure he will cope with the scrutiny of being manager a 'big' club and expectations of the fans that brings. He's capable but I don't expect him to be a success here.

Has what team playing attractive football ?
He's unemployed mate , his football was that attractive , Blackburn didn't renew his contract.
Resigned from Coventry ( rather than be sacked )
Sacked from : Boro , WBA and Celtic ( after 9 months ).
He got a team promoted from league 1 and then established them as a solid championship club flirting with the play offs. They spent next to nowt to do it as well. It’s hard to say he’d done a bad job.
Took him 4 yrs to get from 15th to 8th . FFS man.

They finished 8th last year Blackburn, after finishing 11th, 15th, 11th in the three years before. Now most fans would take any of those positions right now

Pretty much every manager is either sacked or resigns.
