AN Press conference - CANCELLED

It’ll have been in the pipeline a little longer than that Janey. We must presume we have someone lined up
I totally agree it will have been, I suspect he’s been talking to them since at least the weekend, which pisses me off.
Im not naive enough to think it doesn’t happen but that doesn’t make it right, I don’t want him to go but he loses Brownie points for me, if that’s the case

You can refuse to give other clubs permission up speak to your manager if the contract doesn't allow it.

Compensation could have been far higher than a million too, which might have put them off. Also he probably would have had no reason to leave had he had a decent long term contract.
IF. That has nothing to do with contract length but is a clause in it. Clueless you mind 😂😂

Looking at the positives.

He got you out of league one and you have a side that IMO can complete in the championship.

Now hypothetically, if you were a championship side and your manager had left and you appointed Alex Neil, I've no doubt it would be all a bit meh to most fans, as he is hardly a world beater and goes stale after a while.

Hopefully you will appoint someone who can take the club forward. There are many managers out there that would love to manage Sunderland, especially now your back in the championship.
It's a bad situation, and not welcome. I assume the club offered him improved conditions after promotion, which he turned down. Today he turned down another offer. Again, this is pure speculation on my behalf. He backed himself coming to us and did very well indeed., his tail is up. He deserves it. But we can't offer him the money that Stoke have I assume. We're newly promoted, not like Stoke or other clubs that have not had 4 years in L1.

I'm gutted, drained. I'm logging off soon. This is where the DOF and HC have conflicts no doubt. Other clubs have had the same issue. We all have mates that support other teams. I feel sorry for the lad from Costa Rica but then again, he didn't sign because of AN. We just have to hope that our DOF system continues to be successful.

I kind of agree but it took us 4 managers to get out of that division.

One thing getting us going, another getting as organised and as good as we got as we basically were strolling it by the time of the final.

Think my thought were more along the lines of that someone as poor (I felt) as Johnson did have us playing well and in a good position. His ability meant he couldn’t stabilise us when the wheels starting falling off.

Johnson lacked the organisational/tactical skills.

I honestly don’t think he can stay now

He insisted on a 12 month contract.
He insisted on a clause in his contract allowing him to speak to other clubs.
He has been heavily backed.
Just two weeks ago he questioned Broadhead's mentality for choosing Wigan over us.

If he goes then he goes. Don't want anyone that doesn't want to be here.

If it's about the who, then surely it is linked to money? The players that Neil would want (i.e. experienced Championship players) aren't available on loans or frees. I can't really see how it could be about the where either. We're lacking another forward, but other than that, I'm not sure where we're particularly short on bodies.
I don't think it's anything more than Stoke are offering him more money.
